The US Navy has dismissed Vice Adm Joseph Aucoin as commander of the Seventh Fleet following a string of collisions involving warships in Asia.

Ten sailors are still missing after the USS John S McCain collided with an oil tanker near Singapore on Monday.

Navy officials say human remains have since been found in sealed compartments on board the ship, which is now in port in Singapore.

Seems like it took a couple days longer than it should have, for the “you’re fired!” memo to arrive.

I wonder if training interference from the Obama regime had anything to do with these Naval problems.

“Navy officials say human remains have since been found in sealed compartments on board the ship...”

In what sort of sealed compartments on a destroyer would sailors normally be?

These collisions are really strange.

It is difficult to understand how they could occur. Even if the electronics stop working, they should still have watches that keep an eye out for traffic.

Has the Navy become so use to having electronic that they have become careless?

I would hope discipline on ships improve.

Forget GPS, don’t they have men on the bridge looking out for anything on the sea anymore? What were those guys/girls doing?

The heads begin to roll

Seems to the casual observer that way too many military got promoted because they embrace the civilization-destroying agenda of those who have disdain for traditional values. How can a ship run efficiently with guys who think they're gals and gals who think they're guys and people who like to promote an unnatural sexual agenda, all in close quarters? It sounds a bit more like the famous Star Wars bar scene than an efficient, focused military.

How does a Navy destroyer get hit in the port aft by a partially loaded tanker going 9.2 knots?

Granted it was a typical morning rush hour into Singapore. But somehow the McCain got itself in the way of the Alnic MC, got hit, and 10 sailors are likely dead.

Check out the tracking video of the Alnic and others. It is surprising there were not other accidents dodging the disabled McCain and Alnic.

I believe the speed limit in the Traffic Separation Zone is 12 knots and the collision happened just after the Alnic entered the zone. Was the McCain speeding and then hit the brakes as it entered the Separation Zone?

Army guy here who has spent about 8 hours on-board a Navy ship.

Are sleeping compartments (right term?) routinely sealed at night or is it more than likely they were sealed after the collision.

Thanks in advance.

I read elsewhere that Aucoin was already scheduled for retirement within weeks. So this may be the brass deflecting accountability from more precious heads.

Navigation lines hacked? (la) Same lines used by our ICBM’s to get to their target... Would hate to ‘send off a nuke’ to Pyongyang and have it hit San Francisco...

https://www.newscientist.com/article/2143499-ships-fooled-in-gps-spoofing-attack-suggest-russian-cyberweapon/

“On 22 June, the US Maritime Administration filed a seemingly bland incident report. The master of a ship off the Russian port of Novorossiysk had discovered his GPS put him in the wrong spot – more than 32 kilometres inland, at Gelendzhik Airport.”

“After checking the navigation equipment was working properly, the captain contacted other nearby ships. Their AIS traces – signals from the automatic identification system used to track vessels – placed them all at the same airport. At least 20 ships were affected.”

They would normally be in one, but I would think that after your ship gets rammed by a 600 foot long container vessel, the crumbled steel bulkheads no longer allow doors to work as they did before the colliosion.

I think one could make book on it. When the prime concern, from the Pentagon on down, through Annapolis and down to the lowest sailor is totally consumed with being courteous and innofensive to any and all queers who may be looking to make “friends”, naval performance suffers. Woe betide any personnel who offends one of their gender-confused shipmates!

I was USMC, but spent 6 months on a Navy LST ... ugh.
I think "sealed compartments" refers to the sleeping quarters being sealed off from the rest of the ship by the collision - but I could be wrong.

Case similar: traveling with young relatives and they are getting lost if their phone/gps does not work. If you hand them a map they cannot read it. They have no idea how to tell distances, locations, etc. Although, I am unusual in that being female I can read a map and can tell NESW. My dad taught me.

All compartments can be sealed to prevent sinking.
