No telling what gas prices will be by next Wednesday if this storm sticks around for the duration.

ANPT2—117 mph gust, 91 mph sustained.

Wind speeds are about the same as Hurricane Ike. A solid Cat 2 after subtracting out the NHC hype. There will be plenty of property damage and a lot of people will get new roofs. It could have been worse; we're lucky it didn't hit a more highly populated area.

That guy with the periscope feed looked like he was in real trouble. The feed just cut out.

Yeah, this one blew up quick - the Gulf water is ripe for development.

There might be some good news... the storm didn't slow down a lot so far, so the models seem to think it's gonna go further inland before it loops.... and if Harvey doesn't re-emerge, that will at least drop the wind field.

The rain, however... not so much.

A little,my favorite bad memory was a guy who would not leave Gaveston. He made up his mind we respected it.I forget the storm. They closed the storm shelters. They had people on the roofs they could not rescue. It took about 4 or 5 months and he posted again. He said the worst happened.Never asked him what the worst was but no lives were lost.

Thanks. My Dad lives in Rockport. This helps me.

He has evacuated to Floresville.

I am in South San Antonio. The winds have increased here significantly.

Meh. I’m in Pasadena. It is windy but it’s been worse for non-hurricanes. The rain comes and goes and it’s pretty light right now. It’s the kind of rain you enjoy listening to under a tin roof.

The clouds were moving quickly.

What worries me the most is the huge trees in our hood. There are lots of them.

He definitely started to sound scared. And given his history, he doesn’t scare easily.

Blessings and good luck to all FReepers in the storm area. Watching from far-away Colorado.

That was jpsb during Hurricane Ike in 2008. I put out an APB for jpsb several hours ago. Haven’t heard a peep.

Ironically he’s sheltering in a car wash and his car is getting quite a wash from the outside.

Cat 4 winds, unreal. Too many unpredictable scenarios. Exciting for an adrenaline junkie, but not smart.

You don’t have to wonder why NBCNEWS has such horrible reporting on TRUMP when you see such STUPIDITY.

Radar shows that center of eye is about 15-20 miles southeast of Rockport TX or 25-30 miles east of Port Aransas. Port Aransas has solid cat-2 conditions but is not in the strongest portion of the eyewall, that is just moving onto San Jose Island and no measuring stations there.

Pressure is about 938 mbs.

Some slow weakening may begin as larger portion of the eye moves over land, but Rockport could see stronger winds than Port Aransas has seen. Intensity near shore is probably cat-4 but places on land may max out in low end cat-3.

Motion of the eye appears to be northwest at about 5-6 mph.

It will take 3-4 hours to get the whole structure off the Gulf, maybe longer. By tomorrow morning a cat-1 hurricane circulation about 50 miles north of Corpus Christi is the best bet.

From there, it becomes increasingly speculative. Model average (hardly a consensus) would be for a slow counter-clockwise loop back towards Corpus Christi, back over the Gulf for a time by Sunday-Monday, then northeast towards Houston. But it should be stressed that lots of other outcomes are possible. Fast, organized movement is apparently not one of those.

Hopefully, jpsb has safely escaped Harvey and is safe.

Yes, I had to refresh the feed. It obviously cut out on my end.
