It surely looks like at least a Cat 2. Very healthy storm.

Meanwhile, those that work for a living and pay taxes will pay for the cleanup. You’re welcome and have a nice day.

I was just plotting the eye and I would say in the last two hours the eye is heading to a point between Brownsville and Corpus Christie. Of course we all know this can change.

The last NHC Discussion talks about shifting a bit to the left.

Best case is to take it into the King Ranch south of Corpus, like Bret in 1999. Short term. That still does not account for flooding from it stalling over South Texas.

Great sigh of relief talked my hubby into a 5 day vacation in Tyler and we were blessed with a safe and smooth passage just arriving into Palestine and be in Tyler by 1 AM German Shepherd in tow. Keep me posted on Houston

I would say that is a good possibility looking at it tonight. However tomorrow may different. Going to bed now.

Bad news is that this storm is STALLING before landfall.

Back in the 1960's (or early 70's), Hurricane Camille stalled before making landfall. It was a catastrophic hurricane.

Stalling can mean intensification before landfall.

And the Eastern side of Hurricanes get slammed in the Gulf.

Refugio may get major damage (just East and near the coast of Corpus Christi). Victoria and Galveston will have to be wait-and-see what happens.

Right now predicted to make landfall with 125 mph sustained winds.

Unfortunately, these numbers could go up...

This thing looks horrible. Prayers up for everyone in Harvey’s path... especially FReepers and their families.

The last hurricane we had here in NE one of the biggest problems were huge traffic jams about three days after the storm when people tried to find gas for their generators since most gas stations didn’t have power.

If you are staying just don’t count on fuel resupply after the storm.

Looks very bad for New Orleans - given the decrepit state of their pumps... Despite massive amounts of Federal aid since Katrina.

4 AM Discussion by NHC has the storm weakening a bit.

The Louisiana-Texas Gulf Coast has quite a few refineries.

Gulf of Mexico production West of Mississippi River is probably all shutin.

Look for a jump in gasoline prices.

I used to have a large trampoline like yours. A couple of fierce North Texas storms taught me to take the skin off before the winds come.
