How did AZ go from Barry Goldwater to John McCain? I really need an explanation. I already don’t like that state. Whole place looks like kitty litter IMO.

Lots of retirees from all over the country moving to AZ.
Still, more conservative than most of the States I have lived in.
Much more conservative than CO for example.

It wasn’t much of a change. Goldwater sadly became a Reagan-hater and moved leftward by his last two terms in office (he almost lost reelection to a pro-life Democrat in, of all years, 1980). McCain clamed to be a Conservative, and we saw how long that turned out to be true.
