“This event is … beyond anything experienced”: National Weather Service‘s ominous warning on Harvey
MSN VOX ^ | August 27, 2017

Posted on 08/27/2017 12:00:43 PM PDT by SMGFan

Since Friday, the National Weather Service has described the impacts Hurricane (and now Tropical Storm) Harvey in superlatives, with forecasts stating the flooding would be “catastrophic” and “life threatening.”

Now, nearly 50 inches of rain (4 feet!) are in the forecast as Harvey stalls over Houston, and the Weather Service is stretching to find the right way to describe the risk.

They’re calling the situation “unprecedented.”

Long-time weather journalists and meteorologists are saying this language is as dire as the National Weather Service gets.

Rains could last through the week. Five are reported dead already. More deaths may come. This situation is likely to get worse before it gets better.

God Bless Texas folks. Prayers out from NYC.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

I have many friends and relatives in harm's way and this is a sickening time.

The remnant of hurricane Irene was stalled for days over parts of upstate New York and that was bad enough. I can’t even imagine this.

Prayers up.

Excellent graph, and one that we won’t see on the nightly news as the scripters hone their lies.

I’m between Houston and Louisiana and we’ve got way more water than the streets can handle. I have an uncle in Houston and haven’t been able to get hold of him, hopefully he’s gone to higher ground.. He’s no dummy. Have no fear though, Texans generally have a different mind set, more independent than most. Sometimes gets us in trouble, but usually just means we handle what needs to be handled. My friends are laughing at the wide eyed weather channel and find the local guys way more informative.

Also, aren’t you familiar with the “Africa” song by Toto?

Have Flake and McCain chimed in yet about how Trump has devistated Houston?

If the forecast verifies and locations do measure 50” of rain from Harvey, that is indeed unprecedented. Combine that with Houston being the fourth largest city in the U.S. the potential is there for a significant disaster. Katrina disaster was mainly due to man made levy systems failing in a city that was built below sea level, not the magnitude of the storm itself. Galveston disaster was all about not having the ability of knowing the severity of the storm and not evacuating due to not having radar/satellite, etc. These are completely different scenarios.... The NWS and NHC wording is definitely warranted.

Compared to Sandy, others...the MSM definitely low-balled coverage before the storm. Joe Bastardi seemed to think this was going to be a much bigger event than the media/pundits were making it out to be, think he predicted cat. 2 rather than just the trop. storm/rain event most of the media was throwing out there.

As far as doing that on purpose...hoping the disaster could be used against Trump???....you be the judge. The networks still seem focused on Arpaio more than anything else.

Wouldn't put it past the evil pr#cks to pull something like that if you ask me...their hatred of Trump knows no bounds.

Wow. The City of Houston’s official Twitter thread used to communicate info to the public trapped people using it requesting help and posting their addresses is being trolled by Lib nuts blaming Trump for the disaster.

These people have no soul.

You really see the coordinated attacks on Twitter. They jump out because of their repetitiveness.

One can’t help but suspect that President Trump is doing an excellent job organizing the response. The media seems to be bringing up anything but how he’s doing.

Well going by your own map, 50 inches would be the most rainfall ever. So I’m not sure what you mean by hyperbole.
