How the hell could anyone vote no??
Buh Bye you three slime balls . . .
Because of budget concerns?
Smash is Republican and Tea Party. Never misses a vote, is a stickler for rules. He may have thought is was too much, does not make him a “slime ball.”
Amash.
I just looked up why Amash voted no. He wanted to pay for it now, rather than add it to our debt. Sounds reasonable to me. Both Biggs and Massie seem be in the category of patriotic people, unlike most of the trash with whom they are forced to work in the Congress.
It’s a start.
Wow, so the House can still pass legislation when it wants to.
Who knew?
It takes only a few days for hurricane relief, but years for tax relief, Obamacare repeal, funds for the wall... if ever!
I’m glad the relief bill was passed to help out a segment of our citizens, but where’s the relief for all our citizens on the above matters?
Makes my blood boil!
The governments response to Harvey is draining existing disaster reserves, with Federal Emergency Management Agencys disaster accounts hovering at $1 billion or less. FEMA is warning lawmakers that disaster funds run out on Friday, even as a Hurricane Irma is bearing down.
Because disaster relief is not a Constitutional power of the federal government (as stated by early presidents) without an amendment that outlines limits to the power.
Sure.
With one addition.
“For the next 25 years, the city of Houston will receive no federal money for disaster aid for hurricanes.”
Sixty seven Republicans voted against the initial $10 billion House Hurricane Sandy relief package in January 2013. Link. At least Amash and Massie are consistent in voting against both.
How much pork do u think is in this bill?
Does it contain billions of dollars worth of irrelevant, unrelated pork-barrel spending in areas unaffected by Hurricane Harvey?
The Congress Critters are salivating. Watch this money trickle on down.
Latest word is that the Senate will add raising the debt limit to this bill.
House is against that so makes an interesting event to watch for.
Amash and Massie don;t surprise me at all.
