Jimmy Carter brands US ‘oligarchy’ & urges Trump to sign N. Korea peace treaty
RT ^ | 13 Sep 2017

Posted on 09/13/2017 8:02:43 AM PDT by mandaladon

Former US President Jimmy Carter said the US works more like an "oligarchy than a democracy," while also lambasting Trump's “hopeless” approach to solving the Israel-Palestine issue, and the increasing tension with North Korea. The former president was speaking at a ‘Conversation with the Carters’ event at his Carter Center in Atlanta on Tuesday. He said money in politics is what makes the US more like an oligarchy – run by a small group of rich people – rather than a democracy, AP reports.

This isn’t the first time the 39th president has made such comments. In 2015, he referred to the “unlimited political bribery” that has “created a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors.”

On escalating tensions between the US and North Korea, Carter said, “The first thing I would do is treat the North Koreans with respect.”

“I know what the North Koreans want,” he said. “What they want is a firm treaty guaranteeing North Korea that the US will not attack them or hurt them in any way, unless they attack one of their neighbors.” Carter said, “But the United States has refused to do that.”

Carter said he would send his top person to Pyongyang immediately, adding: “If I didn’t go myself.” The former president visited North Korea three times between 1994 and 2011.

"Until we're willing to talk to them and treat them with respect as human beings, which they are, then I don't think we'll make any progress," he said.

He had his own 4 years to make this treaty with the NORKS and then essentially 8 years under Clinton to do the same (if Clinton would have accepted the terms).

Trump has been in office all of 7 months and now its all his fault things are turning to $#!+.

I once held the view that Jimmuh was a good man, beneath all the crud, but he has and continues to do his utmost to harm America he deserves the appellation F**ktard Supreme! We should sign a peace treaty with a psycho? We wouldn’t be in this mess if it wasn’t for Mr. Peanut and the other demwit presidents.

Some high points in Carter's successes in international diplomacy since 1980:

1992. Called the Venezuela elections which elected Hugo Chavez fair. Oddly enough, this was the last fair election in Venezuela. In 2015 Carter shut down his election monitoring offices in Venezuela.

1994. Carter went to North Korea to negotiate a deal that did not have any official support. President Bill Clinton accept his efforts after the fact.

2006. Hamas takes over the Gaza Strip from Fatah. Violence follows.

2006. North Korea detonates its first nuclear device.

2014. Carter declared Hamas committed to peace. Did not try to meet with any members of the Israeli government.

2014. Food shortages start in Venezuela after thirteen years of socialist-plutocratic rule.

2016. Carter declares his support for a Palestinian state. Ignores that the Hamas charter since its founding in 1987 specifically calls for the elimination of Israel and this has never been revoked by Hamas.

Are there are any other successes I missed?

he’s right about oligarchy

He sure is. Read the following passage from "The Russian Revolution" by Alan Moorehead 1958 and see if it sounds familiar:

...but the fact remained that this was a predatory state which the Czar and a small group of noblemen and bureaucrats ruled for their own exclusive benefit. ... The ruling group owned all the wealth, enjoyed all the privileges and monopolized all the political power, and it did not intend to give up any of its prerogatives. It considered the peasants (some 95 percent of the population) to be little better than animals...

Yeah Jimbo we signed that peace deal you worked out in the 90’s on stopping their nukes how did that work out for us again?

How many times has the dog eater broke every agreement he has ever signed there Jimmy? You clearly are not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I bet car dealers loved seeing you pull up in their lots over the years. A chicken waiting to be picked clean to the bone.

I'd go with 1995 on that one.

No kidding. Look at any pure democracy like Denmark, or Israel, and it is pure anarchy - politically that is.

For some time I have given Jimmy the benefit of the doubt, that he is a God fearing Christian but a deluded liberal as well.

But now I am starting to think he worships himself more than God.

But not for the reasons he cites. Political traditions have been added that were never envisioned by any founders. For instance the idea of Congressional “discipline” and regarding Congressmen as “senior” or “junior” is purely something that has been grown in the system. All Congressmen should be regarded as equals.

In Britain/Canada the role of Prime Minister also grew over time to garner more and more power.

Indeed. He should discuss the power of foundations on political thought. And how the richest ones, Carnegie and Ford, are run by liberals.

I always chuckle when Carter the Knucklehead feels the need to pontificate on foreign policy.

It’s almost as funny as algore lecturing on Global Warming.

Partner, besides the great Ronald W. Reagan, the U.S.A. as had 46 years of the worst presidents since the assignation of President Kennedy who was in the Rat party but the Rat party of those days looked out for the working man and Mom stayed home to take care of the kids.

We the American people have voted for the worst kind of presidents these past 28 years in George Bush No. 1, Clintoon, W. Bush, and the America Hating, Marxist, Imposter Obama.

All of these guys did not care about the working man and working families.

I think this is where u are coming from since we kinda have this right now unfortunately.

Also, the supposedly righteous journalism we have had in this country has been trying to select our president and we have too many gullible people in this country that believes or loves the liberal spin on things.

We threw a curve on the devious journalists in this country by selecting and voting for President Donald J. Trump who beat the snot out of that liberal insane Hillary!

We know Hillary cheated big time but has not gone to jail which is not good for ethics in elections of this great country of ours.

An Oligarchy took time to really make roots which it has already done in the U.S.S.R. An Oligarchy could make roots much more quickly in the U.S. since we have an open society and we are definitely not like Russia but we keep electing folks that want to take us in that direction. If we look at the past 28 years then we would have to conclude that the Clintoon regime and the America Hating Obama and wife Moochelle have done the most damage. Don't get me wrong, since the Clintoons also did a lot of damage and we are witnessing right now the damage that the Clintoons did to the U.S. in giving out our technology to the Chi Coms. The Bush family did not help our cause one bit, which is very unfortunate since we could have made a stand.

We already know that as a country we have not done a very good job in electing candidates and our Far Left MSM has done a very good job at selecting our president.

After President Reagan, we had first Bush against Dukakis (Dukakis was a terrible candidate for the Rat party). In 1992 we have first Bush versus Clintoon and Perot and Clintoon won though even at first we thought that Perot was going to beat Bush and Clintoon.

Clintoon vs Dole in 1996 and we get Clintoon again. BTW, the first Bush (No New Taxes) and Dole were terrible candidates for the Pubbie party.

The year 2000 we had W. versus Gore (Gore was a terrible candidate and Gore did lose Florida) and if u recall 2000 was the year that we had an economic malaise throughout the whole country. Our MSM conveniently forgot about writing or mentioning this fact. Clintoons left W. with a recession.

In 2004 we know it is Bush versus Kerry (terrible candidate) and W. won easily.

Now we know why we are heading towards an oligarchy type of economy and structure.

President Trump needs to turn this around!

BTW, we already know this but we will not know how much damage the America Hating Imposter did with out country since we really do not have a credible MSM anymore.

The sheeple will follow idiots like the American hating Piece of Work Obama since they do not read or do any research of candidates anymore and they let the MSM make their selection for POTUS. It is shameful of our MSM to do this to our country instead of reporting the facts.

The Church that the Piece of Work Obama attended said the GD America words every other sentence. This really sent flags to my little ole pea brain that this guy Obama and his wife Tranny Moochelle hated this country with a passion and I could not vote for someone that hates America like Obama as our POTUS. Well, it did happen that an American Hating President got elected as our POTUS.

President Donald J. Trump is our last hope in changing the direction we have been going and I am taking these words from another freeper who wrote this statement and I agree with this statement 100%.

You and every Freeper know this information and we need to do a better job at reeducating Middle America since this is where the presidential candidates will win elections.

We all agree with your assessment that we are heading towards this Oligarchy type economic structure direction if we do not make changes in the next 8 years period.

You’re absolutely right.

I like to call the Elite ruling class here the Nomenklatura, based on the Soviet model.
