CHICAGO — Attorney General Jeff Sessions can't follow through — at least for now — with his threat to withhold public safety grant money to Chicago and other so-called sanctuary cities for refusing to impose new tough immigration policies, a judge ruled Friday in a legal defeat for the Trump administration.
In what is at least a temporary victory for cities that have defied Sessions, U.S. District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber ruled that the Justice Department could not impose the requirements.
He said the city had shown a "likelihood of success" in arguing that Sessions exceeded his authority with the new conditions. Among them are requirements that cities notify immigration agents when someone in the country illegally is about to be released from local jails and to allow agents access to the jails.

This was a decision by a federal judge (U.S. District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber). This absurd decision will be reversed, by the Supreme Court if necessary. BTW, which President appointed this moron?

I’d tell the judge to f*** himself. He isn’t the president and cannot force the President to spend money.
Should pull an IRS and just shuttle their requests off to the “Nowhere team” for a 3 year review and requests for additional information.
And this guy was nominated by Reagan too; the seat in IL was an expansion of the judiciary. Not the first human being capable of showing two faces, to be sure.

Did this man miss the entire Obama administration he was part of? How many time did the courts and goverment coerce (or just outright order) people into violating and abandoning their values?
I’d give the fascist/traitor, U.S. District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber, 24 hours to leave the country before he’s arrested for treason.
That and DACA and allowing non-citizens the vote is a soft overthrow of the US Constitution and the government.
This judge is one of Reagan’s mistakes. Not quite as bad as Bush I’s mistake (David Souter), but few are...
If Holder or Lynch were AG and a judge from a conservative state made a similar demand for money for a program that 0bama didn’t want, they would just ignore it. Because “how many divisions has this judge?” (none)
But Sleepy Sessions will likely just go along with it.
Does this Judge live or work in a sanctuary city? If he does, he should recuse himself. Maybe he’s afraid that crimes and killings will skyrocket if the money stops. It’s something to think about.
No they don’t have to wait for the supreme Court.
All they gotta do is grant the city a dollar.
Let me guess, I bet if ones like Ferdinand Marcos, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Marshall Tito, Jaruzelski, and Erich Honecker were to see the antics of these judges, I bet they’d be a touch jealous as they probably would have made good use of them in their own dictatorships.
