Russia probes leave Trump associates struggling with huge legal bills
Washington Examiner ^ | Sept 16, 2017 | Sarah Westwood

An expanding special counsel probe into the Trump campaign's alleged Russian ties has saddled many of President Trump's current and former associates with hefty legal fees and left them few options for footing the bill.

More than a dozen people, including the president and vice president, are known to have hired attorneys to help them navigate special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation and several additional probes in Congress. Some have complained about the burden of paying for their legal bills without assistance from the wealthy president whose campaign is in the crosshairs of federal investigators.

"It's very expensive and nobody's called me and offered to help," Michael Caputo, a former Trump campaign adviser who has been contacted by congressional investigators, told the Washington Examiner.

"The problem is, it's very specialized representation, so it takes a certain type of attorney, and they're quite competent. And you'll pay for competency," Caputo said.

The former Trump communications adviser said he has hired a New York-based attorney near his hometown of East Aurora, N.Y., which has helped him save moderately on costs by allowing him to confer locally rather than travel back and forth to Washington, D.C.

But Caputo said he still had to liquidate his children's college fund to pay the tab for his lawyer.

Reminds me of Gibbs saying he hates lawyers. I wonder if that can include stinking democrats doing the investigation MAKING money while ruining the lives of these patriots.

I don't shed a tear for anyone like this facing legal troubles who has made a career as a political consultant for both U.S. and foreign campaigns. In Caputo's case, it's his work for the Russian government over a span of 25 years that has probably put him in the legal crosshairs here.

Find me someone in a legal quandary who has spent his life actually doing something productive, and I just might cry a river.

Trump should look into this. As the bills mount, some of these people may be tempted to cut a deal to help frame Trump in exchange for relief from the bills.

There should be some kind of requirement for the special investigation to give investigated US citizens sufficient matching resources used against them to insure justice is served on both sides. An investigator with unlimited resources can railroad just about anyone. This should be for saint or sinner. It might also cause any investigation to be specific about its parameters.

That’s what they planned all along.

Bankrupting the President’s closest friends and supporters so that he’s left without any.

Mueller is scum. This is a hit job by the Uniparty garbage to jackhammer Trump out, no matter what is or isn’t found.

These people are guilty of nothing except being Trump supporters.

We could start online funding campaigns for them but the best thing is for public outcry demanding an end to this Orwellian BS, fomented by Democrat operatives in the Intelligence agencies and DoJ, appointed by Obama.

Scream End It Now or we go into the streets like the Left.

Off subject but same scenario, when vets die from medical malpractice they have to go up against the DOJ top lawyers and usually can only get an average lawyer for their case. Many just take the “deal.”

That crossed my mind. Like losing a civil case make them personally pay for the muck.

Any reason they just can’t “take the fifth” on every inquiry like Hillary?

from Liz..

Ponder the depths of her depravity here. Speaking at a Democratic Presidential Townhall meeting in Columbus, Ohio, March 2016, candidate Hillary thought she was rather clever by attempting to make it appear as though Donald Trump was wildly unpopular with all of her foreign connections. It’s too bad the media forgot about this clip:

VIDEO EMERGES Of Hillary Clinton Admitting Foreign Leaders Contacted Her During Campaign, Discussed How They Could “Stop Donald Trump.”

“Hey Robert Mueller! Do you care to find out which foreign leaders candidate Hillary Clinton spoke with during her campaign? Because according to Hillary, she received “messages” from foreign leaders asking her if they can endorse her to stop Donald Trump from becoming President.

So what did Hillary tell these foreign leaders?

It’s a peek at Hillary’s mindset. She sees herself as a shoo-in to be president: “I am already receiving messages from leaders. I’m having foreign leaders ask if they can endorse me to stop Donald Trump.” (Hillary Clinton, Democratic Presidential Townhall meeting, March, 2016)

Who’s going to work for him in the future? Go to work for Trump, your career is over and your life will be examined for non-existent ties to Russia and in the course of that, they will look at you for process crimes and tax violations. It’s an attack on Trump, and an effort to force him to submit to the swamp.

I agree that this is a hit job. More importantly, it's a power grab by the Demmicans and Republicrats to make sure that "outsiders" like Trump are not tempted to enter national politics and break down the "sacred walls" of Washington in the future.

In all likelihood, this article was orchestrated by the defense lawyers to send a clear message: get us paid or our clients flip on you. Ugly business all around, but this stuff is never pretty.
