Tohono Oodham Nation Chairman Edward Manuel is determined to prevent President Trump's proposed border wall from carving a path through his tribe's lands a move which he said would separate members from much needed resources and disrupt the communitys way of life.
The nation, which is about the size of Connecticut, is a federally recognized tribe that has land and members on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border.
Walls are made to keep animals in or out, walls cannot contain people, Manuel said. People are too intelligent. They can always find a way to get over the wall, under the wall or through the wall.
The Tohono Oodham Nation is just one of many groups that have expressed concerns about the potential path of the president's proposed $1.6 billion border wall. The National Congress of American Indians is also calling on the U.S. government to work with tribes on the border to address their concerns about the impact on communities.
Much of the nearly 2,000 mile border is owned by private citizens. The government may gain rights to the land via eminent domain laws. These laws would allow the land to be bought out from under the owners, some of whom have already begun receiving notices.....

Most large cities is Asia have remnants of walls, particularly different gates, still maintained and revered since they were essential to the survival of that city and country. The largest, of course, is the Great Wall of China, visible from space.
A wall is a force multiplier. We need that wall, we want that wall.
“Fine, Leave a big gap in the fence right on their property.”
OR, tell them, we’ll just build the wall to put you and your precious land on the Mexican side!
And the most important of all: YOU are a Native American!
Wouldn't that be true of everything built since all the land is supposed to be Indian Land?
If the wall is not a barrier to people, why is Manuel complaining?
Well I have a plan for that not that anybody will listen. We have several military bases all withing a couple of hundred miles from the border and all are training constantly. I can think of no better place for our troops to train than on the Texas Mexico border. Ground and aerial surveillance working in conjunction with the Border patrol.
Tell the Chinese their wall never worked. A wall that is monitored works wonderfully.
...besides, this reminds me of Palestinians - they really don’t care about some land until somebody does something with it they want to object to for political reasons.
If they don’t like it we will have to make the wall on our side around them. When they want to enter into the country they will need to go through a check point. We won’t be able to be responsible for their safety. It will be a chose that they have to make.
