Convicted Terrorist Rasmea Odeh Deported (Why Are These People Allowed Here?
Townhall.com ^ | September 21, 2017 | Christine Rousselle

Convicted terrorist-turned-Women's March organizer Rasmea Odeh has been deported from the United States to Jordan after it was revealed that she lied on her application for a U.S. visa and for U.S. citizenship. Odeh did not state on her application that she was convicted in 1970 for two bombings in Jerusalem that resulted in the deaths of two people, and hence was tried for immigration fraud. After several appeals and a vacated sentence, on March 23, 2017 Odeh was sentenced to be deported and to be stripped of her U.S. citizenship. Her citizenship was formally revoked on August 17.

Odeh was one of the co-authors of the Women's March's "A Day Without A Woman" planned strike and was active in the Women's March activism.

Despite the relatively open-and-shut nature of the case, Odeh still has supporters who protested her deportation using the hashtag #HonorRasmea.

And those new laws would not be on our books today.

Had they been enforced, we would have had about 300,000 illegals here in 2000. Instead we had 9 million.

Bush was the one that went full in on massive scale amnesty. He campaigned on amnesty at first, then thought better.

During Bush’s first couple of years, illegal immigration reached 3.5 million per year, according to Time magazine. PER YEAR!

That means during the first ten years after 2000, upwards of 35 million illegals could have come over.

I think Time was gaming the numbers, but there very easily could have been 2 to 2.5 million per year.

Here’s something else to think about.

In the mid 2000s, there was a guy here that revealed the apprehensions for just one sector during one nine month period. In the busiest one sector alone, 900,000 illegal aliens were apprehended. That’s a 1 million rate per year in that one sector alone (albeit the busiest by far).

Border patrol agents have traditionally agreed that they only interdict about 10% of the actual numbers coming across the border. Even if they doubled that figure, that means that 6.0 million were making it across the border per year in those days.

That’s quite a bit different than the average 900,000 that made it across in the 1990s.

Reagan made it very clear, illegal immigration was not acceptable.

Had GHW Bush enforced those new laws and NOT done away with inland enforcement, very few illegal aliens would have come to the nation. They wouldn’t have been able to survive here without work.

Reagan was not the problem. His successor was a very big problem. He laid the ground work for very little illegal immigration enforcement, other than token ones.

I wish she had spent time here in prison first for lying on her application. I don’t want that to become a crime of no consequence. Deportation merely restores her to her pre lying state.

If you are saying Reagan was a better president than the Bushes, and the democrats, I give you a resounding yes.

The fact remains, rewarding bad behavior will never stop bad behavior. It will always encourage more bad behavior.

Once Reagan gave blanket amnesty to ALL illegals, it guaranteed a huge influx of more illegals. And that is exactly what happened. Let us accept this fact that Reagan did not understand basic psychology and move on.

And in addition, if Reagan thought that the majority democrat congress was going to enforce immigration laws, he mis-judged them. And if Reagan thought Bush-41 was for strict enforcement of immigration laws, he mis-judged him. And if a democrat president followed him, even I could have told him no way in heck will they discourage more illegals from the south of border.

In summary, Reagan had good intentions, but very bad understanding of psychology and other politicians.

GHW Bush did not enforce the laws of our nation.

THAT AND NOT REAGAN’S ACTIONS, CAUSED THE INFLUX OF INCREASED LEVELS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS?

What part of that is too complex for you to grasp?

Are you aware of what took place in Danbury, Connecticut back in 2009?

“DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — Scores of immigrants are fleeing this western Connecticut city, residents say, as the economy falters and the police department begins a partnership with federal immigration officials that puts more pressure on illegal immigrants.”

“Immigrants aren’t so sure. Barbara Levitt, 58, owner of the Upscale Downtown consignment shop, said immigrant-owned stores began disappearing after the City Council applied to the immigration program.

“You could drive down this street, and you could see, all of a sudden, there were all these ‘for rent’ signs,” she said. “People just left town.”

GHW Bush and his whole family have been miserable on this.

Where the laws have been enforced, illegal aliens and crime have dropped.

This anti-Reagan nonsense ignores everything but Reagan’s actions, and I’m not buying off on it.

I didn’t agree with Reagan’s actions, but blaming him is just wrong-headed, and is helpful to the Left as they try to trash his legacy. I’ll have no part of it.

You’re lost in space.

Why shouldn’t Reagan have expected his Vice-President to follow and enforce the laws of our nation?

Good grief!

Oh my God, Helen Thomas had a sister just as evil as she was.

Looks like the Womens’ March revealed its true colors when they picked Odeh to be one of their leaders.

The “Grace Paley Award”? Well she was an old-line Marxist who swung both ways, Stalinist (CPUSA) and Trotskyite (SWP) and the War Resisters League, led by avowed CPUSA newspaper support David McReynolds (of the Hanoi Lobby days), was never against all wars while McReynolds ran it, only the ones aimed at stopping communist aggression in Southeast.

Hope the bitch killer gets humped by a horny camel who takes her for a long, long ride. The desert hides many stories.

Appreciate your detailed responses. Stating facts is not trashing. There is nothing in what I said, that the liberal left does not already know. I don’t think in 2017 they are spending energy or will spend energy on trashing Reagan. 30 years is very long time. Reagan is old history in political time scale.

The immediate agenda of the left is to trash Trump. He is their biggest problem obstructing their agenda. Obamacare, the Wall, Islamic terrorists, Foreign trade deficits nearing Trillion every year, cap & trade, are the issues on which they resent Trump the most.

And the fact remains, that after Reagan’s blanket amnesty for all illegals, the influx of illegals accelerated. My best guess is now we have in excess of 30 million illegals in the country, taking jobs away from citizens at lower wages, sponging off the welfare system, degrading & burdening schools, and worse of all committing crimes which we do not need from illegals. We have enough crimes from US citizens already.

Entropy12, I live just outside Los Angeles. I have witnessed buses being filled will illegal aliens to be driven to the border and expelled from our nation. It was happening by the buss-load possibly a number of them, every single day.

Under GHW Bush, this stopped. It never restarted.

There used to be raids of businesses, arresting and deporting illegal aliens. This stopped. It never restarted.

Now you're here to tell me, it's Reagan's fault. You site the stats of how the illegal populace grew, and have no idea what your talking about.

Our illegal alien population grew because there was very little enforcement. Inland, you had to practically go into a police station and tell them you were an illegal. Even then, if you hadn't committed a crime, they wouldn't take you into custody.

During arrests, they stopped asking if people were here illegally. When doing crime scene interviews, they quit taking people into custody who were illegal aliens.

This was not all Reagan's fault. Under Reagan all these things were taking place, and Reagan signed that bill increasing penalties to prevent illegal immigration.

Not only were those laws not enforced, they stopped enforcing any illegal immigration laws inside our nation.

At the border, sure they kept up what I consider to be a token effort. When they sent in more agents to beef up the border, they all went to work inside at the station. Apprehensions did NOT increase exponentially due to the new officers.

Do you have yearly illegal alien immigration stats from roughly 1988 to 1992? Do you have them from 1992-2000? Can we compare the numbers of illegals coming across the border during those years? No!

You don't know that the numbers spiked as soon as Reagan signed that bill. You don't know if they started or not roughly 1990-92, after it became clear Bush was going to open our doors to illegals and not send them back.

You comments about this being Reagan's fault ars baseless. You've developed a talking point that you know will rub others the wrong way, and you're running with it.

Further, when talking about this issue, it's best to address the people who currently do things to impact the situation negatively. It's best to talk about inland enforcement and beefed up border control.

It's best to address Liberals, Leftists, and RINOs. Who do you address? President Ronald Reagan.

That's a Lefist Democrat talking point.

If you're here to tarnish Reagan's legacy, you're in the wrong place. He was the best president we've had in the last 100 years, and you're go-to position is one that blames Reagan first before anyone else.

What he did was necessary. I didn't want it at the time, but the laws he signed into place would have stopped illegal immigration in it's tracks, if enforced.

Quit blaming him for the results of 27 years of no-enforcement.

Reagan was a great man. He did everything he could for you and I, and the rest of the nation. He deserves better than to have someone like you smear him without considering all the facts, or denying all of them to do it.

If Reagan thought politicians were going to enforce immigration laws, he was sadly deluded.

95%+ politicians owe their re-election chances to their rich donor class. It is NOT the middle class who keeps them in power, rather it is the donors who can single handedly contribute millions. Note that just 4 donors contributed nearly $40 million to the Cruz for president effort.

The rich donor class FAVORS influx of cheap labor. If Reagan did not recognize this he was delusional. There was no way in heck majority of politicians were going to enforce immigration laws.

Again I repeat, reward bad behavior (in this case illegal entry in US) and you will get more bad behavior. That is exactly what happened. From the 3.5 million illegals who were present during Reagan era, no we have may be 10 times as many.

You’re basically an idiot.

Reagan was deluded?

No, but I know someone who has gone down that road missing so many signals along the way.

You lost this disagreement when you started pushing Leftist talking points.

1. Tripled federal spending, no vetoes to try curbing spending
2. Rewarded 3.5 million illegals unconditional amnesty, causing tens of millions of illegals to flood in.
3. Allowed awful unbalanced trade with China sowing seeds of millions of manufacturing jobs lost for the middle class.

All 3 above are exactly opposite of President Trump’s agenda.

Easy to call someone idiot, difficult to refute facts.
I always try to deal with facts wherever they may lead.

But Reagan does have redeeming items. Tax cuts being the best, followed by strengthening the weakened military by Carter.

For most of Reagan's terms in office, the Democrats controlled both houses of Congress.

1. Tripled federal spending, no vetoes to try curbing spending

Reagan had to rebuild our miliary after Carter desimated it.  Yes, he had to make deals to achieve that.  I guess you would have been happier if Reagan had left our military in a terrible state, and the Soviet Union had not been tasked with competing with us, and had remained the paria nation it was.  I'm sure the Eastern European and Asian nations that got their independence back then would side with you on that?  AS IF!

Here you are ignoring all this to list the suposedly terrible things Reagan did.  That's terribly misguided.

2. Rewarded 3.5 million illegals unconditional amnesty, causing tens of millions of illegals to flood in.

Back in the day Reagan described what he thought would take place.  He talked about 1 million illegal aliens.  It's what Congressional leaders were pushing.  I remember the dynamics from that time very well.  Reagan himself talked down illegal alien immigration, and said he was not in favor of granting amnesty, but he thought it was vitally important to strengthen our immigration laws.  You have put him down for trusting future politicians to enforce our laws.

Since when is it unreasoned to expect our elected officialls to enforce our laws?  You twist every aspect of this to trash Reagan.

That rest is a lie unless you can prove it.

Provie me with yearly illlegla immigration numbers to back it up, or you're just lying hoping nobody will call you on it.

The numbers from 1990-1993 may have been miniscule.  If so, it wasn't Reagan's actions.  It wold have been the actions of GHW Bush, Clinton, GW Bush, and Barack Obama..

3. Allowed awful unbalanced trade with China sowing seeds of millions of manufacturing jobs lost for the middle class.

This is also a lie.  Trade with China was very small during the Reagan presidency.  Trade with China didn't take off until the early 1990s.  When businesses and our govrnment colluded to move as much manufacturig off shore as possible.  Nice try.  FAIL!

All 3 above are exactly opposite of President Trump’s agenda.

As I intimated earlier, you really don't know what you're talking about.  None the less, here you are trying to attack Reagan on a Conservative forum.

What the hell is wrong with you?.

Easy to call someone idiot, difficult to refute facts.

Well, it's not as easy as making them up.  I'll grant you that.  It's still very easy to set the record straight..

I always try to deal with facts wherever they may lead.

Well, that's a fine thing to say, unless when you prove otherwise in the same post,... as you have here

But Reagan does have redeeming items. Tax cuts being the best, followed by strengthening the weakened military by Carter.

Duh!  Ya think?

I give Reagan full credit for tax cuts in my previous post. Like I said, I deal with facts.

More facts...national debt took an upward leap during Reagan’s 8 years.

More facts...abortions actually increased and Planned Parenthood did well.

Reagan also failed to build an effective wall on the southern border after giving amnesty to 3.5 million illegals.

On the plus side, inflation rate took a dive after 1983, and I made pretty good profits in stocks because of that.
