Hundreds of thousands of Bibles are about to flood into public schools across the nation, as students in every U.S. state prepare for the annual Bring Your Bible to School Day campaign. The concept is simple: On Oct. 5, young people from kindergarten through college-level are encouraged to bring their Bibles to school and talk about it with friends, according to a website from co-partners Focus on the Family and Alliance Defending Freedom.
Bring Your Bible to School Day encourages young people to bolster their faith, stand up for religious liberty and talk with their peers about Jesus.

Very cool.
I think it’s a statement just having the Bible there on campus.
It’s an “in your face”, letting those who don’t like it know that many millions disagree.

As a Gideon, I have handed out bibles (New Testaments) everywhere, including Brazil, S. Africa, and other countries.

If schools cant lose federal funds, i say bring it all back. Hard.
If we cant defund sanctuary cities we cant defund schools for not complying with federal strings either.

When I was in the 6th grade, the Gideons handed out New Testaments. I can’t recall if it was just the 6th grade or the entire school.
Everyone was glad to have them. I was glad to get one although I already had a Bible. I can’t recall anyone refusing them. This would have been in 1959.

When I was in the 6th grade, the Gideons handed out New Testaments. I still have mine. Great when you have little eyes to read the little print. Nowadays? Not so much. Give it to me in Jitterbug Font, extra large!

I have several in large print or at least fairly large. I was given a very small Bible when I was 9. I always thought it was from my Parents but just a few days ago, I got it out and read it with reading glasses.
To my surprise it was only from Mother. I guess I had forgotten.

ABSOLUTELY! As a County Supervisor I am really relooking at all those “strings” we have to follow. I am a happy camper.

Or in an ebook reader, in which you can set the font to suit you. Also, I imagine, with some electronic versions of the Bible you can call up other uses of a particular word in seconds (in English or in Hebrew or Greek).

The good news is students do have the religious-freedom right to bring their Bible to school and read it during free time,' I remember reading one of the SCOUTUS judges involved with the O'Hair ruling saying that schools are even allowed to have bible classes if they choose. Only prayer was outlawed.

If proselytizing happens during class, expect the bibles to be collected for return at the end of the day.

Some older Freepers might be able to relate:
In 3rd and 4th grade public school....when I was but a wee lad...we had a twice-weekly Bible class. It was not mandatory, but you needed a signed note from your parents to opt-out. Of course we hated it, because we had to go to Sunday school also, so to a kid this seemed like extra sunday school. Learning about sin, forgiveness, Jesus, singing hymns and everything. If that happened today, people would be hauled off to jail!

It’s been ages since I stayed in a hotel, but I think there had been a Bible in every one when I did in the past. Do they still do that?
