Steelers will not participate in today’s National Anthem, as @JamieErdahl reported. Steelers will remain in locker room during Anthem.

I don’t know a whole lot about Tomlin, but it impressed me that he usually wears a crucifix. And he seems like a straight shooter during his press conferences, etc.

As for Tomlin backing Obama, that’s disappointing, but not surprising. I can live with that. I have many friends who were also misguided, and voted for the Fraud.

But to disrespect the flag...that’s an entirely different thing.

on the bright side, virginia mscaskey, principal owner of the chicago bears, lives a block over from me. her home has ALWAYS had an american flag proudly flying for the eighteen years i’ve been in the neighborhood. i’ll still watch the bears even though i’ve quit watching all the rest of the games.

Ticket brokers buy most of the NFL tickets, IIRC. So it's gonna be about butts in the seats. And if butts in the seats decide to exercise their right to protest.

Relee,
As a pre 2016 Bears fan myself I certainly am not giving up too much not participating in the goat f*ck which is the Bears. I love having Thurs night, all day Sunday and Monday night without bullsh*t shoved down my throat.

Have a great day.

I have not watched an NFL game since 1997. Can you or someone else please explain to me briefly why there is an NFL game in London? Thanks.

Try this stunt -- taking a knee during the national anthem -- in:
North Korea
Cuba
Venezuela
Iran
etc.

IIRC, the Hussein brothers had a special way of encouraging their 'football' players to win -- or be fed through a plastics shredder.

This is NOT a smart move. Timing is everything and even the most politically oblivious sports fans are aware of the issue, and this will be considered disrepecful to the majority of citizens that cherish the national anthem and their country.

If college teams have been doing this all along, it was before Trump went public with his comments.

I love Trump for doing this because it puts not just the NFL on defense but also the fake stream media. Now they have to defend unpatriotic Patriots billionaire owners such as Kraft, and multi millionaire thug players that have richly or bigly benefited from American prosperity.

IIRC, it’s against NFL policy that requires teams to be on the field during the anthem. So either the NFL has changed the policy, like a few minutes ago, or it’s refusing to enforce the policy. Sounds like freaking anarchy to me.

What a way to wreck a brand.

Well, that means our side has lost. We lost the playing of the National Anthem during NFL games. How is that good for us?

I hope the crowd belts out that anthem and burns the ears of the legion of stupid and arrogant

I hope the crowd doesn't show up. Time to turn off the NFL. College and High School football is more fun.

Other than Philly, it won’t go down well in the rest of PA.

Don't be so sure. This makes my blood boil. Most Eagles fans don't live in Philadelphia proper and in 'da hood.

Wanna bet? Another sellout, as always

The coward steelers announced this hours before the game. I'm just saying this cowardly act will not go down well inwestern PA.

I don’t think you are right. The people who are going to boycott already are.

The rest are willing to be insulted in order to watch and support the NFL.

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t have a good feeling about this. I have conservative friends who are ignoring all this, making excuses and still going to the games.

Butts in the seats and/or out in the parking lots making a lot of noisy, eye-catching protests would make dandy optics.

“Yeah I like that better - better yet - the fans should block the tunnel and not let the steelers take the field!”

That would work too. The players need to see that the fans will not be passive and keep funding their salaries.
