Alabama Republican Roy Moore leads Democrat Doug Jones by less than 6 points in a new Senate special election poll that's likely to raise questions about whether the deep-red state is in play.
Moore, the controversial former judge who won Tuesday's GOP primary runoff, leads Moore by a margin of 50.2 percent to 44.5 percent in a new poll conducted by Opinion Savvy and commissioned by Decision Desk HQ. About 5 percent of polled voters said they were undecided.
Democrats are cautiously eying the race in the hopes that Moore's penchant for controversy can help them pull a surprise upset. Moore has a solid base of support among the state's evangelical community, a reliable voting bloc, thanks to losing his position as chief justice of the state Supreme Court twice for disregarding court orders on the separation of church and state and gay marriage.
But he's also drawn serious criticism for both those decisions as well as some controversial comments he's made in the past. He's argued that terror attacks and violence may have been caused by a drift away from religion, that homosexual conduct should be illegal, and said that a Muslim congressman shouldn't be seated in Congress.

But in Alabama no Democrat should be within 15 points of any Republican.
WTH?
Pull the other one, it has bells on it.
Trump won Alabama by 28 points, and his favorability rating there is the highest anywhere at 74 percent. I find it highly unlikely that this poll is anywhere close to being right.
Establishment RINOs want to get even with Chief Justice Moore. Of course, had AL Democrats run someone remotely credible, they might’ve had a chance. The Dem is Doug Jones, and he is a San Francisco Stalinist, so it makes it that much easier for Moore to win.
The Republicans spent $30 million to see that Moore was defeated but that failed. Let’s see how much they spend in support of Moore against the dimoKKKRAT.
I am will to bet that they will only spend a token amount in support of Roy and would be quite happy if the dimoKKKRAT wins. It is going to be up to us to support Roy Moore.
I am not going to believe a democrat is going to beat a republican in Alabama until it happens.
Total BS. I wonder how much this crap polling outfit said that Hitlery would win by?
B/S poll.
Hopefully the democrats will stimulate the albama economy with lots of campaign spending
Roy Moore is the next senator from Alabama-—period....
The Hill is going to find anything negative they can about Moore because he’s a conservative, Moore is going to win.
Moore has run very close races. He won the Chief Justice position in 2000 with 55% of the vote. After he was removed for standing up for his religious rights and made a comeback in 2012, he won with just 52%, even against desultory Democrat opposition. It would not be out of the ordinary if he wins with around 54% or so in this race.
Democrats ought to invest in, Doug Joness campaign against Roy Moore (Laugh your Ossoff)

He isn’t. Has Roy Moore lost a statewide election? This s BS or demofag dreaming. Don’t matter which it’s a done deal. Hope demofags end up pumping tons of $ into the election. Help the economy and helps drain their bank account.
BS... more push polling nonsense... just like Hillary was going to win GA and was up 10 in Pennsylvania.
Legitimate polling out on the 25th had Moore 22
Do not be surprised if the GOP actually funnels $ to the Democrat
Polls ... ask Hillary.
We need to consult Pravda to see the true poll...I’d believe their polling over any US poll.
Another recent poll has Moore beating Jones by 20 points. That seems more in line with reality in Alabama.
