Las Vegas (CNN)In addition to his frequent forays into casinos and gun shops, Las Vegas strip killer Stephen Paddock took 20 cruises, many of them in Europe and the Middle East, investigators have learned.

Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, accompanied him on nine of the cruises.

In the wake of Sunday's attack, authorities now believe Paddock rigged his car to explode if fired upon, according to information provided by the source. The car, a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Touring, contained 90 pounds of Tannerite and two suitcases filled with hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Explosive-sniffing dogs discovered the vehicle, according to the information.

Investigators have also determined that Paddock booked three rooms at the Ogden, a luxury condominium tower in Las Vegas, between September 17 and September 28. The condos were on high floors and facing north overlooking the Life Is Beautiful music festival, according to the information provided by the source. He attempted to book a room at the El Cortez, but there were no vacancies, according to the information. The source said investigators recovered a notepad with numbers in it "significant to the gunman" and were attempting to determine their meaning.
The presence of the numbers was first reported by The New York Times, based on an interview with Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Posting an article is a nuisance; first you have to do a search. I don't mean to complain, but the FR search engine is not very user friendly and I don't know what you are supposed to do about that asterisk, back it out or what. And it's hard to get an exact match on headline. Then I need to find the page with the papers that are link-only or excerpts.
Google makes it almost impossible to find anything on FR any more so I try bing, not much better. Sometimes I like to find an older post I made or another FReeper fast.

Another chilling fact is that he actually booked a room in a hotel overlooking Grant Park last August, one news account said booked once, then revised to a few days earlier, then never showed. I thought it was the concert Malia had such a great time.
When I watched that clip of Malia months ago, I thought she has secret service but how hard to protect her in that crowd from a crazy? They are supposed to scan upper stories and I don't want to think they aren't foolproof but I don't see how they could have stopped this guy if he did stay in that hotel and aimed for the Lollapalooza festival, 100,000 in attendance.
Wondered why he changed his mind; heard a conjecture that it was because of his gf. He wanted to shield her all right and massacred so many people. One theory is that he planned to escape and possibly live with her in the Philippines.

So his car was setup to explode if shot. And his recent long rifle purchase has not been found. That points to a partner who is still at large and trying to bury a rifle in the desert ?

1) gambling! Did you know that on the weekend of the shooting he gambled 16 hours? He was a gambling addict.
2) Free cruise. He gambled so much he had “whale” status meaning gambling corps gave him free rooms, food, drinks, even airfare and cruises
While I absolutely this ins't a guy who just snapped...how do they know he was "scouting" those other venues (i.e. outside NV) as opposed to simply booking a hotel near a stadium (for example) because he wanted to visit? He did, after-all, go on 20 cruises. In other-words, maybe he traveled a fair amount? Do they know if he in fact did visit each of the places?

My conjecture, to add to the many, is he was booking 3 rooms at the other facility because others were involved in that projected shooting and he was part of a subversive group. He then had two adjoining rooms in Las Vegas. I still suspect another shooter/helper in Las Vegas who escaped. Maybe the “helper” had orders to kill him when the mission was accomplished since he was well known to the casino and would have been easily found during an escape. I think part of the plan was he was assured safe refuge somewhere, but that Marylou couldn’t come...that’s why Marylou received a $100G pay off in the Phillipines...she was being dumped.
