The NFL is not just losing white viewers. The NFL isn’t just losing black viewers. No, the NFL is hemorrhaging viewers of all races and ages, and they’re doing so at a frightening pace. With the NFL’s Week 4 in the rear-view mirror, a review of TV ratings through the league’s first month show that the NFL has lost millions of viewers year-over-year, a decline that has picked up speed so far this year. As Awful Announcing recently put it, “It seems everyone is mad at the NFL.”
Overall, viewership is down seven percent over 2016, which is bad enough for the league. However, this year’s slippage is not the first. Indeed, 2016 — the year of the first national anthem protests — saw a nine percent decline over 2015.

I find it very sad that viewership and attendance is not down at least 50%.
Most people in this country are weak, self interested, ignorant, idiots that will follow whatever political wind blows the strongest.
But that is pretty much the world in general.

I don’t know how attendance is doing, but three teams have had attendance problems that I know of.
The SF 49ers have had lots of empty seats at some games.
Ditto the LA Rams in the LA Coliseum.
The LA Chargers can’t even sell out their temporary home in a 27,000 seat soccer stadium. Clearly there wasn’t much enthusiasm for the Chargers to move to LA.
This year’s season tickets are all bought and paid for. It will be a key indicator, if season ticket renewals in the off season are down.

The league, the players and the sports media establishment need to figure out that sports are a refuge and escape from politics. That is why I watch sports. When I cannot escape politics by watching sports then I cany keep the tv on.
Hurricanes, elections, and the Olympics; what could they have done? Just like Hillary, the NFL has run into bad luck through no fault of their own.
Like watch the grass grow, in my case.
Well, among the varied reasons suggested for the decline, Leftists are mostly importing soccer fans thanks to illegal and legal immigration. I have zero sympathy for the NFL.
I was kind of hoping this would blow over after a few weeks, but after what happened to Raiders QB Derek Carr, I am finished. I will never watch again while the NFL is supporting full-on racism in addition to anti-Americanism. If the NFL loses my brother as a fan, they will truly be finished. Don’t think it’s happened yet, but we’ll see after this weekend.

Indeed, he was the first; however, there are 32 owners who employ a commissioner. It was the commissioner's job to put a stop to this and the owner's job to make sure he did. Kaepernick is just a washed up player who tried to cash in.
There is a story in my family that my great-grandfather would sit in a front porch rocking chair in his retirement, holding a fly swatter. He would swat flies and flick the fly to a chicken who was always waiting nearby, who would run up and snatch the fly. They said he entertained himself that way for hours.
