President Donald Trump spoke at the Heritage Foundations annual Presidents Club meeting and credited the Founding Fathers for understanding that freedom doesnt come from government.
Trump echoed previous comments he has made, such as in June when he declared, "In America, we dont worship government, we worship God." He credited the Heritage Foundation for understanding this.
"You understand that human progress must be built upon a firm foundation of timeless truths," Trump told the Heritage crowd. "These truths are immortalized in our founding documents, and the most important truth our Founders understood was this: Freedom is not a gift from government; freedom is a gift from God."
"And that is why we are here tonight, to rededicate ourselves to the defense of our God-given rights," he added. "We are here to ensure that we defend this legacy from any threat, foreign or domestic."
Trump also said understanding these ideas is key to valuing America.
"Everyone here understands a core truth, that for America to have confidence in our future we must have pride in our history," he said. "As Americans, we have inherited a special legacy of freedom, culture, laws, traditions, and values."
He pointed to the identity of his hosts to highlight these ideas.
"Your organization is named the Heritage Foundation because you understand that our glorious heritage is the foundation for everything we hope to achieve."
BTT!
I appreciate it.
God bless Donald Trump, as He has spared this nation.
Gives me peace of heart
My ping is yours, good sir.
Mr. President, let me school you a little bit:
true spiritual freedom, that is, salvation, was and is always purchased with the Blood of Jesus. that is indeed a gift from God.
true and lasting political freedom, as history proves, is rare and has always been purchased with a continuous flow of the blood and substance of virtuous patriots—of whom there is ample evidence that many were already children of God, and thus spiritually free prior to willingly giving their all for God, family, state and nation. such has certainly been the case in America.
But, but, but... he’s not a REAL conservative...right?
(Do I really need the tag?)
He must - this is the only Nation on God's green Earth that has those concepts written into its Constitution and he considers it all half-baked, spurious nationalism.....
Therein is the foundation reason for the split between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives believe rights are inherited and untouchable descending from God. Liberals believe “rights” are released to the public through laws of the collective hive-mind of mankind. This must be solved before any other conversations have any chance of reaching a consensus.
I’m 32; I’d have a fun discussion with them about natural rights.
Sorry to everyone for bumping this thread.
