A Pomona woman accused of plotting to smuggle space and military technology to her native China is expected to plead not guilty Friday to federal charges.
Si Chen, also known as Cathy Chen, allegedly bought and exported components commonly used in military communications jammers and for space communications, according to the U.S. Attorneys Office.
The prosecutor said that Chen has family ties to the Chinese government, while her husband was educated at a Chinese military academy and has close connections to the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army, the countrys armed forces.
The indictment alleges that from March 2013 to December 2015, Chen purchased and smuggled sensitive items to China without obtaining licenses from the U.S. Department of Commerce as required by the Economic Powers Act. Jammers can be used to cut off an adversarys cellular communications and to mislead enemy forces.
If convicted as charged, the Chinese national would face the possibility of more than six years behind bars followed by deportation.

Ooohhhhhhh.......
Like the Clintons.
Deja Vu Clinton and his buddies.
Bullet...forehead...no trial necessary.
Exactly!
CA is literally crawling with foreign nationals. I have no doubt a fair percentage of them are spies and or harbor bad intentions towards Americans. And not it’s just China. You name it, it’s here and in many areas they completely outnumbered those, who just a few decades ago, were the clear majority.
And none of this was a mistake.
then charge her family for the cost of the bullet.
We have to be culturally sensitive after all. LOL
Out the back door of the White House while he was STILL in office.
Chinese guy and his wife with connections with the PLA...in the US with access to secret stuff...what could possibly go wrong?
It is called man made climate change.
And her case officer said "If you get caught just complain of racism comrade."
She was busted for trying to ship something that needed a department of commerce license, not a department of state license which usually covers more sensitive items. Is it possible someone was thinking?
That’s how Bill Clinton sold Loral Space technology to the Chinese (and collected a nice kickback.)
Note to any US intel folks that may read this:
You need to devote a large group of investigators to full time surveillance of WeChat. No Chinese National stays off of it, they feel anonymous there while in the US, and the entire site is actively part of the PLA.
