Benedict Arnold was also a war hero before he turned traitor, Senator.
You beat me by a minute. ;-)
A Viet Nam “war hero” brutally stabbed to death my elderly former landlord and landlady in the early 90s.
He put pillow cases over their heads, duct taped them to the kitchen chairs, in which I myself had spent so much time with those beautiful, Godly people, and repeatedly, viciously stabbed and slashed them, each one hearing the others’ cries of pain and terror.
He didn’t even let them hold hands as they died.
His only “grace” was that he didn’t also kill their terrified dog, who watched all this happen.
“War heroes” are not automatically lifetime saints.
*footnote. They buried his evil carcass in *Arlington* until the family put up such a hue and cry, that his corpse was removed from those hallowed grounds.
