At 5:56pm, as the night had just fallen on Manila, president Trump walked down AF1 stairs and swiftly boarded Marine One for a short helo ride to the landing zone of the Convention Center. At 6:18pm, the motorcade drove to POTUS nearby hotel (Sofitel). Pool holding.

After a five minute drive from POTUS hotel, motorcade arrived at the Convention center for the ASEAN gala dinner. At 8:02pm, POTUS wearing - like all the other leaders -Philippine formal attire, the Barong Tagalog (long-sleeve white shirt), walked on the red carpet. He exchanged a lingering handshake and a few words with president Dutertes wife, who smiled, and then shook president Dutertes hand. The three then turned to the photographers and as he was leaving, POTUS shook their hands again and smiled. Everybody then stood for the family photo, POTUS standing to president Dutertes right.

Pool was ushered in the vast gala diner room. POTUS was seated at a long table with all the other leaders as president Duterte entered. He stood up and shook his hand briefly and they both sat down next to each other before president Duterte stood up again to deliver his speech. At the end of the speech, POTUS stood up with all the other leaders and raised his glass. As he sat down again, he engaged in a conversation with president Duterte and started laughing. Pool (who was way too far to hear them) was then ushered out.
