The woman who posted a photo of herself giving the middle finger to President Donald Trump’s motorcade to social media has been fired from her job, The Huffington Post reports.

As Trump returned from the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., Sunday, Oct. 29, a woman later self-identified as Julie Briskman, made the rude gesture to the president’s motorcade twice as she was cycling on the same road.

The Constitution guarantees you the right of ‘Free Speech’, but not protection from the consequences of it.

When I as working on a Navy Base back in ‘92, a woman was fired from her government job for campaigning for Perot on her own time, but in front of the main gate..................The Hatch Act..............

Compare your story with that of baseball legend Joe DiMaggio. He was in attendance in Baltimore in the 1990s when Cal Ripken Jr. was breaking Lou Gehrig's record of playing in 2,130 consecutive games. Bill Clinton was also there, and sent his staff over to DiMaggio's seat to bring him up for a photograph with the president.

DiMaggio steadfastly refused to go anywhere near the guy.

The difference here is: The left was outraged when anyone flipped off Obama, and was okay with them being fired for disagreeing with him.
Here, they are okay with people flipping off Trump, and are outraged that they are getting fired for disagreeing with him.
They’ve gone 180.

If not, I’m not a fan of her firing, despite what she did. The First Amendment guarantees your right to express opinions on your free time. Would anyone here who said rude things about Obama want to be fired for doing so?

The photo was taken by the official White House photographer, it was not a selfie.

She was not fired for flipping off the motorcade. She was fired for making the photo her Facebook profile picture, which her employer claimed violated their social media obscenity policy.

Not sure I agree with that reason either, but if the company does business with the government, you don't want to risk offending your client.

The First Amendment guarantees your right to express opinions on your free time.

The First Amendment starts with "Congress shall make no law." So the freedom is only as against the government, not private individuals.

Total crap. No way she should be fired unless;

Wearing company uniform
On the clock
Posted on a company web forum
Shared with customers

This is supposed to be a free country, freedom of speech and expression. This one looks like total overkill.

Virginia is an employment-at-will state; this means the employer may terminate any employee at any time, for any reason, or for no reason. As a general rule, therefore, the employee has no right to challenge the termination. There are a few very limited exceptions.

So, you can fire a person because they turn out to be Jewish? Gay? Voted for so and so...?

Not too many people believe this but an employer has a right to cut you loose for any reason at any time. Maybe she had a contract and then, yes, unless there was a due cause, she may get her agreed to terms met, but as a wage earner - just the fact that she embarrassed herself and the company publicly - (via Facebook or Twitter)

If it’s a free country I should be able fire any employee of mine who breaks company rues or embarrasses my company in public.

Indeed, still a free country. And had you posted it on social media and your company deem that an embarrassment to them and fired you, I'd defend their actions as well. Freedom of speech does not confer immunity from the reactions of others.

Hmm. I shook Eisenhower’s hand back in the mid 50’s. As a kid, that was pretty cool.

The 1st Amendment prevents the government from screwing with you when you speak. Private citizens, employers and friends can kick you to the side of the rode at their whim. The good thing, though, is that you are free to find a compatible employer and new friends without government interference!

Listing the name of her employer in a Facebook posting that includes this does cross the line. She cannot claim to be speaking for her employer, nor risk the resulting damage to his business.

We’ll see if you still have this opinion when the Left cranks-up the pressure on spineless corporate America to start firing Conservatives. Cause you know that’s coming.

She is a leftist nutjob who supposedly teaches Sunday school at the Galilee United Methodist Church. She ought to be fired from her teaching position. Since it is the UMC, they probably gave her an award.
