Morning Joe: “Gillespie Campaign Whispering to Reporters Vote was Repudiation of Trump”
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/08/2017 4:44:21 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

JFK once said, “victory has a hundred fathers; defeat is an orphan.” But in the wake of Ed Gillespie’s stunning, landslide loss in the Virginia governor’s race, it looks like defeat has at least two fathers.

On today’s Morning Joe, Willie Geist reported:

“The Gillespie campaign was whispering to reporters that this vote was a repudiation of President Trump.”

Trump, in turn, laid the blame at the feet of Gillespie, tweeting “he did not embrace me.”

What are Republicans and conservative to make of a very bad Tuesday night? There’s good news and bad news.

Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Gillespie is no friend of Trump. So he lost.

Did the Republican elites put Gillespie in the race as a sacrificial lamb to lose and then blame it on the President?

This is a MESSAGE to the liars, serial liars,
prevaricators, and stinking liars in the GOP
— which means ALL OF THEM since they voted for
Ryan and McConnell presuming it gave them
plausible deniability.

They are not that sophisticated. These are lumbering RINOS and not super sharp people.

Idiot like Hillary. It was a repudiation of Gillespie - totally.

He is self-deceived. Voted for him holding my nose.........

Message to Gillespie: PLEASE! Get out of VA politics! You stink!

“Repudiation of Trump.”

This is the GOPe talking point, first uttered by GOPe stooge Britt Hume last night.

If the GOPe/Deep State succeed(as it looks like they will)in halting Trump’s agenda the Deep State/UniParty will regain complete control of the government by 2020.

Kind of silly, except in the sense republicans including Trump already were losing in Virginia.

So much Bullflop.

I feel sorry for REAL Virginians. Maybe it’s time to calve off from beltway Virginia. Either a new state or join with West Virginia (they seem to be throwing off the union democrat mantle)

He posts here regularly.

Posting regularly does not magically cause his blog to be "news".

“Shouldn’t this be under bloggers?”

Hi csvet:

I’m responding to your suggestion that this post should be under Bloggers.

I am the author of the underlying article: governs=Finkelstein.

For more than 12 years, I blogged first at NewsBusters and then at Legal Insurrection, two respected conservative sites.

I wrote thousands of items there, and always cross-posted them in the News section at FR. I did so because I began my blogging career doing vanity posts at FR about the liberal media.

A couple of months ago, I went out on my own and created FinkelBlog. The nature of the writing is identical to what I was doing at NewsBusters and Legal Insurrection: conservative politics with an emphasis on liberal media bias.

And, as I did at my former locations, I always include a video clip that I prepare so that readers can see for themselves what I’m talking about.

I maintain a Ping list of about 100 FReepers who have expressed interest in being alerted to my work.

As such, I believe that my articles, despite the “Blog” in the site’s name, continue to deserve to appear in the News section.

Hope you find this responsive.

On January 20, 2017 I posted, and said, that Trump had six months to decide whether or not to repudiate and attempt to destroy the Republican Party.

Do not lie to yourselves. Last night was a victory for The Resistance. The Democrats have evolved under the pressure of defeat (which is what is supposed to happen). They are a new party. They know what they want - Hillary out, POC leaders in, a powerful state to suppress dissident speech and thought, with force if necessary, and a bright shining communist future.

Trumpism (and Trump is by no means a Republican) is the only opposition force powerful enough to defeat the rising Red Menace. And Bannon is quite correct - wishy-washy support for the President a la Ryan and McConnell is no support at all.

It’s too late now to replace the GOP for 2018. It’s true that Gillespie was foolish to run as a Trump-ambivalent candidate.

This failure has converted the Alabama Senate race into a must-win.
