I don't suppose reducing expenditures is on the table?

Silly me.

One might assume that the solidarity tax will now live on, instead of ending in 2019. The idea of trimming the EU budget? Absolutely hopeless.

With all the new highly skilled, educated, hard working new immigrants to Germany, the German economy is moving forward on steroids. They will have no problem funding a little extra with that massive GDP increase they are seeing.

I would feel sorry for them except for the fact they reelected Merkel. That being the case they deserve everything coming to them. I do feel bad for those that voted against Merkel though.

Let me see if I understand this correctly.

The EU is a brilliant idea which benefits everybody in the EU when the EU is made up of 28 countries.

But if the EU is only made up of 27 countries, then the idea becomes very burdensome on the Germans?

There's something very wrong with this picture.

The only reason for this is the stupid financial structure of the EU, and not merely due to the U.K. exit.

If the EU was ONLY a total free trade union and not trying to be the new European empire, the Brexit would not be so costly to anyone but the U.K. and that only if the EU members wanted to get protectionist against an independent U.K.
