UCLA and Georgia Tech finally played their season-opening college basketball game in China after nearly a week of drama surrounding an alleged shoplifting incident involving three Bruins players. UCLA great Bill Walton, who was doing color commentary for the ESPN broadcast, wants everyone to know that the school and everyone associated with it is very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very sorry for all of this.

“I am sad, disappointed and embarrassed. This is a very big deal,” Walton said as the game tipped off late Friday night on the U.S. East Coast. “The noble purpose here has been stained. Our host, Alibaba China, the people, they have been better than perfect in everything. They’ve done everything right to make this all work. Now members of our family have displayed an appalling lack of honor, a lack of respect, a lack of decency by doing something in someone else’s home that they would never do in their own. And I want to apologize right now on behalf of the human race for this travesty.”

What kind of apology is that? The whole human race didn’t do the shoplifting. Those 3 thieves should be apologizing on their own behalf. I hope the Chinese make an example of them, and that daddy can’t fix this one for LiAngelo.

Nope, the shop owners on Rodeo just submitted the bill to UCLA and they were paid paid by the Athletic department, but that shit don’t work in China.
True story. Every year Austin hosts the state track meet for high school athletes. There was a nearby shopping mall where the athletes and their entourages would visit en masse and just shoplift the hell out of the stores.
So some of the stores closed for that particular weekend. And the local NAACP staged protests that the stores were racist for not allowing themselves to be looted once a year.
Many of the stores ended up folding up shop at that location altogether and the mall basically now is a shell renting out whatever space they can to community colleges, etc.
So, yes, these parasites think any shopping expedition is an invitation to steal and these three bozos got caught. I hope China throws the book at them and keeps them in jail for years.
In one way, these three are lucky: they’ll probably come home sound of body. Whereas the last young American caught stealing spent a year in a North Korean prison and didn’t survive the trip home.
