Cruz pulls support from Moore: Allegations merit ‘criminal prosecution’ if true
The Hill ^ | November 13, 2017 | ELLIOT SMILOWITZ

Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday withdrew his support from Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore, saying allegations of sexual misconduct should be looked at by prosecutors.

“As it stands, I can’t urge the people of Alabama to support a campaign in the face of these charges without serious, persuasive demonstration that the charges are not true,” the Texas Republican told reporters, according to a Texas Tribune reporter.

“Both last week and this week, there are serious charges of criminal conduct that if true, not only make him unfit to serve in the Senate but merit criminal prosecution,” he added.

“Stop being so naïve. “

I am 100% certain that I could spot a 14 yr old as below the legal age. I don’t care the the 14yr old was. Or how she was trying to look older.

I MIGHT mistake her for 16 or 17, worst case.

And any man here could do so as well.

Of course, some people think it’s OK for a 32 year old man to hit on, and maybe score with a 16 year old girl because in some states there’s no laws against it.

I’m not one of them.

Yep. You see things clearly.

As long as one doesn’t look too closely or unless there’s the give away reveal, they are focus group tested to look, say and do what a loyal voter expects them to.

Because, as long as those voter-bots aren’t startled too badly, they’ll pretty much do what they’re expected to.

Call me jaded, but these days their looking the part makes me think of the two crime family hit men and their “clean” backseat in Pulp Fiction.

The Wolf: You guys look like... What do they look like, Jimmie?
Jimmie: Dorks. They look like a couple of dorks.
Jules: Ha-ha-ha. They're your Senators, loyal voters.
I cleaned up the last line a bit.

Harvey Weinstein admitted to having problems and checked himself into a “rehab”, Kevin Spacey did not deny the accusations - Roy Moore has denied the accusations fevently.

I’m no Roy Moore supporter or anything, but why do accusations = guilty

You are correct that he is vehemently denying the accusations. To the point that he is threatening to sue the Washington Post. I can tell you I read an article where three editorial boards of local Alabama newspapers are calling on him to drop out of the race. At least one of the editorial boards is from a conservative newspaper who has been able to corroborate the reports of a number of the accusers and they believe them.

He said, she said is always difficult. For me, what did it was the press conference. Yes, I do believe her. The worst case scenario in all of this is if a Dem got elected, there is another election for this seat in the 2018 election and we’ll surely get it back then.

I’m capable of discerning on a case by case basis. A Hollywood liberal grandstanding with Allred makes sense. I believe most thinking conservatives are repulsed by Allred and would seek counsel elsewhere.

Hence my opinion of the latest accuser and you.

You know for certain you can spot a 14 year old?

You don't know any such thing, not from her looks!

You assume you could!

I notice you go up to 17 but stop at 18, which is the legal age of consent today.

And what is the 'vast difference' between 17 and 18?

Moreover, the fact is that the 14 year old accusation hasn't even been proven!

What about an 18 year old?

That is NOW the legal age of consent, would that be all right with you?

You guys are nothing but self-righteous hypocrites.

It’s not some plot. I just grabbed the first animated gif I could find. If you have a longer version that erases the creepy factor, let me know and I’ll post it with an apology.

How did the editorial board of this conservative newspaper “corroborate the reports of a number of the accusers” ?

"I’m capable of discerning on a case by case basis."

So am I

"Hence my opinion of the latest accuser and you."

And your opinion is more valid than mine, why? Insulting me does not make your opinion any more valid. I've laid out why I believe what I believe in this case, insulting that opinion does not prove your point. You only made yourself look foolish by what you said about me being on the side of Gloria Allred and now you are simply backtracking.

"How did the editorial board of this conservative newspaper “corroborate the reports of a number of the accusers” ?"

The article I read did not go into specifics. I'm guessing from the editorial, they made that claim and most likely did not go into specifics. I'm guessing the newspaper did their due diligence as reporters, went out to corroborate things like if what Beverly Young Nelson said in her report is true (did she work at that restaurant, talked to people who know her, etc...). Of course they can't corroborate the actual sexual harassment. You never can, right? After all, this type of thing is always done behind closed doors or away from prying eyes. You can only corroborate the rest of the elements of the story. As I said, I'm just guessing as the article I read did not go into that type of detail.

That’s an opionion piece, and as they say opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one and they usually stink.

Like I said I don’t know much about Roy Moore, but I do know that it’s not right to tear a man’s life down and a distinguished 40+ year career over hearsay with no actual evidence whatsoever.

It’s an opinion piece, but like it says in the editorial they sent reporters to go out and corroborate the women’s stories and they found lots of corroboration after the reporters went down to his hometown.

Really ? This is a total opinion piece, they say they investigated and found corroboration, but don’t say what it is and don’t offer anything but their opinion that Moore is unfit to be a senator.

This is a dangerous road to go down.

I’m ashamed that I used to support Ted Cruz.

Not anymore.

****************

Unless it is taken to its conclusion then all those up in DC and other places
are sitting ducks for accusations whether actual or fabricated. I thought we
were basically a nation of innocent until proved guilty.

You could make that same accusation against all these women that came forward about Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, the boys with Kevin Spacey. Are they all lying as well?

I’m not fool enough to think that women (or men) can’t use this accusation as a weapon against someone. That’s why I’m suspicious when it’s just one or two. However, when it’s a lot that come out, the totality of all these people coming out and making claims sways my opinion. I only now am convinced it happened after this press conference yesterday. You could make the same arguments in support of Harvey Weinstein. Do you not believe Rose McGowan et al??

You lie like a Democrat. Are you one? You stupidly conflate all the accusations against Moore. In fact, several of “The Women” have accused him of nothing but asking them on a date basically. Comparing him to Cosby, Weinstein and Spacey is just pathetic. Surrender monkey attitudes like you have is why the GOP hasn’t delivered for conservatives since Reagan.

Ted Cruz, Mitt Romney and all of the no Trumpers knew that the alternative to a Donald Trump win was a Hillary Clinton president. It is not a surprise or shock that they are doing the same thing with Judge Moore. They are globalist, uni party politicians whatever they may call themselves. Ted Cruz is as conservative as the occasion calls for. All of this talk about alternative methods for taking out Moore or rigging another election proves that the GOPe is determined to have their way regardless of what the voters in Alabama want and that the replacement of Judge Moore will result in a democrat senator. Rino Lisa Murkoskie won her senate seat with a write in that involved heavy participation by democrats. She repays them by being helpful to them any way she can. Judge Moore should continue on and with the hell he has been put through he deserves to be elected and let the chips fall. Make all of the Republicans be exposed for what they really are and whose interest is really their concern. The damage now being done to the Republican party is self inflicted and at the rate they are exposing their attitude of disregard for their voters interests, they will destroy the party sooner than later. Which may exactly be their intention.

“Here’s one of the editorials, I found online”

That was a really disgusting hit piece.

He claimed that stories he supposedly heard somehow corroborate these accusations.

Sounds like fabrication to me.
