Fifty years ago surplus shops and hardware stores had 55 gallon barrels of Civil War bayonets for a couple of dollars each. Blade bayonets were more. cash and carry.
On some TV Show or Movie, I saw recently (May have been “Turn”), an officer tells his troops, “Think of it as a spear that shoots!”.
