“The right-wing legislator, who pushed “family values”, was reportedly witnessed having sex with a man inside his office who was not employed by the legislator.”

... so does this mean the reporter would have felt differently about it HAD he been employed by the legislator?

In any event, even people who have repented still struggle with the sin that so easily entangles them and will till the body of death is finally removed ... though of course this guy may not be struggling at all and may be as unrepentant as the day he first molested another guy’s ass.

Those truths aside there is an faulty attitude about hypocricy that is at odds with knowing about human sin nature and it is often most clearly expressed by those who don’t believe in sin, or at least Biblical sin (social sinning against things PC is another matter entirely), and it boils down to a celebration of non-progressives being less than they claim to be.

Those who may celebrate every perversion and revile all godliness are, in short scandalized by Christians who act like the world even as they love it when they do.

And guess what? This is nothing new. Long ago it was told to Israel that it was on account of them that heathens blasphemed. Why should that change?

Leaving office isn’t repentance. That’s as easily a tribute to the wants of the offendsensitive left. Repentance is a daily matter because, to be blunt, your average human being has difficulty staying on the proverbial alter and keeps trying to crawl off. The world doesn’t get that, especially the post-moderns who are mockers and revilers. It doesn’t see, as per the song, those who fall down and get up. It only sees hypocricy when those who disagree with it still are caught acting like the world.

To the nutter left a sinner who celebrates sin (if it’s a socially approved sin like homosexuality is) is better than a man who struggles with sin because they aren’t hypocrites.

The person that struggles with sin is better than the libertine precisely because the libertine is so unconflicted. This is even true when a “moral” heathen is compared to the wanton heathen, their morality may not profit them but it at least has practical benefits to them and society.

Much better still to be repentant, though.

I warn repentance mavens that they had better be crystal clear on its object. Otherwise they’re just being Pharisees.
