JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A tearful Corrine Brown made her plea to the court Thursday afternoon, asking the judge to consider all she has done in her life and to show mercy and compassion.
Brown, 71, was convicted in May of 18 counts of conspiracy, fraud and filing false tax returns. She said those charges run contrary to everything she's ever done in her life, and that she considers her decades of public service an honor and a privilege.

They painted a vastly different picture of the woman prosecutors described as greedy and corrupt in their efforts to ensure Brown spends time behind bars.
One Brown supporter told Corrigan that for the lead prosecutor to describe Brown in such terms shows that he doesn't know her.
Supporters who said they do know Brown called her:
That was choice...deer in the headlights. I half expected her to mumble something like...her name? I don't remember...whitey, cracker, somethin' like dat.
Corrine Brown’s trial is going about as well as the Flahda Gata season.
She took money from a children’s charity and spent it on herself. A truly despicable human being.
My hope would be prison, followed by a good ole’ shanking....

She innocently believed public service was actually public serve us.
She probably isn’t the only fish in the see taking money for themselves.
My thoughts exactly. Even if “look good” didn’t mean physical appearance.
May I suggest a 20 year sentence with no parole!
With a caveat of half that time, if Mad Maxine serves the other ten years!
I hope this goon of a criminal loser goes to prison for the rest of her apparently unnatural life.
Yes, that term bugs the heck out of me, especially used by lifelong political parasites. Public service, my arse.
Don’t bank on it.
Old black female Democrat
She will get off very easy
NO ONE seems to pay for poor behavior/breaking the law any longer.
I know! How low can you go, ha? Can you believe it?
And that 'everything she's done' is avoid getting caught in the past.
