JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A tearful Corrine Brown made her plea to the court Thursday afternoon, asking the judge to consider all she has done in her life and to show “mercy and compassion.”
Brown, 71, was convicted in May of 18 counts of conspiracy, fraud and filing false tax returns. She said those charges run contrary to everything she's ever done in her life, and that she considers her decades of public service an honor and a privilege.

She said she's always striven to protect her name and reputation and apologized to the court, her family, friends and colleagues, saying she “never would have put anyone intentionally in this situation.”
Judge Timothy Corrigan vowed to do the best he can to impose a “sufficient” sentence that is “not greater than necessary” for the embattled former congresswoman, who listened Thursday as more than a dozen witnesses spoke to her character. They painted a vastly different picture of the woman prosecutors described as greedy and corrupt in their efforts to ensure Brown spends time behind bars.
One Brown supporter told Corrigan that for the lead prosecutor to describe Brown in such terms shows that “he doesn't know her.”

Corrine Brown’s trial is going about as well as the Flahda Gata season.
She took money from a children’s charity and spent it on herself. A truly despicable human being.
My hope would be prison, followed by a good ole’ shanking....

My thoughts exactly. Even if “look good” didn’t mean physical appearance.
May I suggest a 20 year sentence with no parole!
With a caveat of half that time, if Mad Maxine serves the other ten years!
