Report: Some NFL Owners Pushing For Teams To Stay In Locker Room For National Anthem Next Year

Some NFL owners are considering a change to the league's national anthem policy that would possibly keep players in the locker room when the Star-Spangled Banner is played before football games, according to The Washington Post.

Any policy change would have to be discussed after the season.

“I think that if players are still kneeling at the end of the year, then it could very well happen,” an unnamed source told The Post.

“Still not good enough. My boycott will continue”.....

I could care less if the protesting A-holes stay in the locker room the entire season. Like the quote above says, “My boycott will continue”. I haven’t watched a single game, a single play or anything related to a game. The only sponsor I support is Miller Brewing Company and their, “Miller Lite”.

Don’t know about you, but not coming out is worse. It’s not only disrespectful, it’s cowardly.

Absolutely!

They could always dig holes in the sidelines to stick their heads in that way the country can watch them hiding.

The owners could always require the players to display either an American flag or Nazi swastika decal on their helmets, depending on their attitude.

NFL should drop their red, white & blue logo.

The new NFL logo is red & black for the Communist hammer & sickle. The black player snowflakes will connect with the black color.

And that’s their solution - to make the national anthem only for the stupid, nationalist, racist, pro-Trump fans who don’t understand the plight of these poor, downtrodden, millionaire victims of white privilege? And those same fans won’t notice that the players aren’t on the field and won’t have a problem with it?

God, these owners are painfully stupid.

As I’ve said on another thread, I’d buy NFL tickets if they were $3 or less. I’d do that just to be sure the seats are empty on game day!

I believe NFL teams stayed in the locker room during the national anthem for years. This thing where they line up on the sidelines during the anthem was instituted sometime post-9/11, I think.

many (fans) have decided

I'm wondering how many who didn't spend massive amounts of cash going to games are really liking how much money they haven't spent on the NFL this year.

I think that the solution is to stop all patriotic displays at sporting events. They have absolutely nothing to do with the defense of our country, or furthering freedom or anything but entertainment.

The main proportion of athletes today are from the disaffected and ungrateful parts of our nation, so deny them the opportunity to further dishonor our emblems.

I've always despised the organizers using uniformed members of our Armed Forces as decoration for those dumb events anyway.

I have learned, over the past year, that I don’t really need to watch football. There are plenty of other things to keep me busy or amused. I will probably never watch NFL games again.

I'm pretty much pushing for the NFL players to stay in their homes during the entire 2018 season.

Won't work.

Now the scum know that the league and owners are too weak willed to take disciplinary action.

The kneelers will just find another way to show their hate and disrespect on camera.

The upside is that they will drive even more fans away.

This is like the parents of the screaming, bratty kid in the restaurant, who just sit there, like their sweet, precious baby isn’t irritating the entire restaurant, instead of dealing with the kid by removing him/her and administering some well-deserved discipline.

Hey owners, just because you think the players are your precious babies, doesn’t mean the rest of us have to put up with their disrespectful displays.

They maybe could have gotten away with staying in the locker room if they had started to do that last year, but President Trump has made damn sure everyone knows the issue clearly, and the teams have made damn sure everyone knows whether or not they are patriotic Americans.

The NFL is doomed.

I hope someone can revive it on the other side of this self created debacle.

an aside comment on local radio yesterday stated that a prominent ticket re-seller was offering tickets for the Redskins Thanksgiving Day game for $7.21 per seat.

I was just wondering what the ratings will be for the Thanksgiving game. This should be quite interesting. On the one hand, I think many Americans are fed up with the NFL; on the other hand, there’s not much to do.

Hey! perhaps families could play games or go for walks together. A novel concept, to not spend a holiday glued to the TV.

Of course, there’s always TCM or other movie channels. ;) Or a binge watching of something like “Better Call Saul,” “Homeland,” “Narcos;” any number of great cable shows. Break out the popcorn! LOL! :)

Any policy change would have to be discussed after the season.

They have thrown this year and the foreseeable future in the trash bin then.

It is hard to find a parallel on how terribly the players, the league, the union, and the owners have handled this issue. It's not a public relations disaster, it is just an out and out disaster.

SHOULD does not cut it. That is like saying Surgeons SHOULD scrub their hands before surgery, but make it optional as a matter of free speech.

I WANT to be an NFL fan. I have been a faithful fan all my life. But now somehow they have made the NFL a racially charged sacred cow that must be bowed down to by the fan. They just don't get that folks are not going to bow down to any kind of sacred cow as a cost of admission to being an NFL fan. If they would have just done football, the good things would have flowed from it like it has for decades. But instead, they had to package something with the NFL to "stand" for something else.

I guess it looks hopeless at this point. This season ticket holder has attended 0 games thus far this year, and will not be buying next year. The NFL has NO idea about the wave fixing to swamp them. What a shame.

What OUGHT to happen at this point is for the players and the players' union to solve the problem. They ought to go meet with Trump or something and just leave the inept league and owners out of the equation. They would earn my respect in that way. Because, without something BIG like that, they too, and not by original intention, are being asked to bow to some kind of sacred cow now. It is NO WIN all the way around.

Players, want to win? Deal with Trump instead of your inept league and owners. Something BIG will happen and you will come to understand what "winning" is.
