After the season ends (seeing how the numbers work on the Super Bowl and attendance for the whole season)...I think the NFL owners will meet and discuss this at length. They could afford one single season like this...but a repeat would put them into a difficult position.
I think the draft and salaries offered for the incoming crowd will be affected. I also think that contract offers for the players over thirty years old will be affected and some will see either no contract offered or a marginal cut. Big contracts for quarterbacks? Forget about it for the next twelve months.
“but a repeat would put them into a difficult position.”
If they are under some drug induced illusion, season ticket sales will reflect the current actual turnstile counts, maybe even worse, by the time the Stupid Bowl has ended. They have effectively screwed the new guys leaving college after this season and I’ll wager many more will stay back and hope that something changes during the next year.
Darnold is a prime example as the rumors are that he will stay in school rather than come out, or not even become draft eligible so he can do a Archie Manning deal with the highest bidder.
Wait until they see what happens to season-ticket sales after this year...
