Important - Flynn says he was told to contact Russians: According the FBI statement, Flynn communicated with Kislyak after being asked by a senior Trump transition official to find out how foreign governments stood on the coming UN Security Council resolution about Israel.

Crime of the Century here, folks.

Supposedly Flynn was implicated due to recordings of his conversation with Kislyiak.

If these recordings were done pursuant to FISA warrants based on trumped up (no pun intended) information from the Fusion GPS dossier, they are "fruit of the poisoned tree," and of no judicial value. But, if Flynn is broke, as is rumored, he can't last until final resolution.

Genoa :" Who knew it wasn't OK for a transition team to talk to foreign government representatives?
I would have called it a wise thing to do."

I too would call it prudent (!), especially after the State Department series of debacles under the Obungler administration and in the international community.
Mueller now has him lying to the Federal Inquisition, which brings all his previous testimony under closer scrutiny.
Now the Fed will look closer at his previous statements, and now they figure that they 'own him', and will begin to squeeze him for more information, even if it is a created fantasy.
Don't forget : it was a falsely created fantasy that began the Inquisition in the first place !

Supposedly Flynn was implicated due to recordings of his conversation with Kislyiak.

Why don’t they just release the call or the transcripts and disclose exactly what was discussed?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

of course this takes us full circle to barak hussein bin soetoro’s abuse of the FISA court to gain “wire taps” on political enemies.

absent the recordings with kislyiak no basis for investigation, much less charges, imo.

The Media is blasting “FLYNN TO TESTIFY AGAINST TRUMP AND HIS FAMILY ABOUT RUSSIAN COLLUSION!!!” “MUELLER LOOKING TO PROSECUTE TRUMP!!”

If this doesn’t precipitate CWII nothing will.

Not only fruit of the poisonous tree, but an indication as to why the Democrats are fighting so hard to keep as much information about the dossier and the FISA warrant authorization secret.

Mueller’s whole enterprise would collapse. All that’s left is a Martha Stewart-like charge against Flynn for lying during an interview about something that shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place.

Regardless would this not be a violation of the Logan Act?

Agree that was how they pressured Flynn, Sr., but that’s off now according to what I’ve read and they’re not going to pursue any charges against Flynn Jr.

So the elder Flynn took a plea to a process violation in order to spare his son’s reputation rather than try to prove his innocence in court and have his son try to do the same.

I don’t find anything to quarrel with in that.

She'd probably pass out over that desk in a matter of minutes...plenty of time for ol' Matt, I'm sure.

The Logan Act makes it criminal for any unauthorized citizen to negotiate with any foreign power against the interests of the USA.

When Flynn did so, Trump had been elected but not sworn in. That’s the kicker.

Then, Flynn lied to the FBI about those contacts, another crime.

Additionally, Flynn was not registered as a foreign agent, and that’s against the law also, to negotiate on behalf of a foreign power.

The FBI did wiretap a few calls between Flynn and the Russians but there was only very minimal incrimination.

But, Kislyak and other Russians were reporting back to Russia, contacts of a much more substantial nature that were clear violations of the Logan Act, that happened before Trump was sworn in.

So, the FBI figured out that Flynn was meeting with the Russians in person to avoid FBI eavesdropping, that’s what Flynn lied about. Instead of about 4 conversations with the Russians, there were about 30, mostly face to face, no records.

In fact, the Russians agreed to change their tactics at the UN because of an agreement with Flynn and his Trump contacts, before Trump was sworn in, that’s against the law, the Logan Act.

Additionally, Flynn was not registered as a foreign agent, and that’s against the law also, to negotiate on behalf of a foreign power.

Whomever, on the Trump transition team was Flynn’s handler is in big, big trouble. If Trump was told about any of these goings on before he was sworn in, he was obligated to tell the Justice Dept./FBI.

If not, that’s conspiracy and/or obstruction of justice. It may seem petty, because if they had waited just a couple of weeks, all these contacts would have been completely legal.
