The Yankees and Marlins have reportedly agreed to a trade that will send Stanton to New York, according to Jon Heyman of Fanrag Sports. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic and Joel Sherman of the New York Post have also confirmed the deal. Full details of the trade are unknown, though the Marlins are expected to receive Starlin Castro and prospects. Neither club has confirmed the deal.

Castro is an 8-year veteran. He’ll be 28. He’s owed $35+ million over the next three years. The Yankees have been disappointed in his performance, despite his pretty good stats.
Might be more popular in Miami than New York.
“Hot Stove League” refers to transactions and discussions that take place in the winter, when clubs are not playing actively (because that’s when you need to sit by a hot stove to keep warm).
“Hot Stove” is old school referring to baseball fans sitting around the old pot-bellied stove during the cold Winter months speculating on what their favorite teams have done, or should do, during the off-season to improve for the coming season.
Stanton and Judge can hit the ball out of the Grand Canyon.
One of them will shift to left field. Both are good outfielders. Then there's the DH. Hicks and Ellsbury man center, I presume. Brett Gardner's playing time diminishes.
Sounds like a modern day version of Ruth and Gehrig, Gehrig and DiMaggio, Mantle and Maris.
I know that Brett Gardner is very popular with Yankee fans but he's really an average player for a starter. Stanton replacing Gardner is a massive upgrade. I'm guessing the Yankees would look to trade Gardener but he'd be great 4th outfielder if they kept him. He's a good defensive player who can play all three positions adequately, is a decent batter, and would make for a very good pinch runner in late inning situations.
Castro/Frazier/Headley/Judge/Sanchez/Stanton: That Yankee lineup will see nothing but righties—meaning Grigorious will be Duke Snider amidst Campanella/Furillo/Hodges/Reese/Robinson.
I’m assuming Clint Frazier will be included in the package of young players shipped to the Marlins. That leaves Hicks, Ellsbury, and Gardner, one to start in center, one to be the fourth outfielder, and one to go elsewhere.
Judge and Sanchez stroke the ball easily to right-center and, from the right side, take advantage of the short porch. David Ortiz did the opposite in Fenway, to take advantage of the Green Monster. Great players take advantage of the ins and outs of their home field.
The Yankees got everything they expected from A-Rod — and more. I don’t think you’ll find anyone in the organization who regrets that trade and the subsequent deals with him.
If you have any doubts about that, just ask the New York Mets -- who have had three pitchers in recent years (Harvey, Syndergaard and deGrom) who would have been an ace on most big-league teams.
The Yankees need to spend some of that money for a big time pitcher. They should go after Verlander. Until they get a couple of aces they’ll never contend for the title. When your ace is a 6-7, 300 pound, almost 40 year old, you have pitching needs.

The Marlins have had as few as 1200 people at a game.
, always leading the majors in the worst attendance category, Castro isn’t going to help with that.
They also have the worst and most idiotic fans in baseball.
With Stanton and Gordon gone, I’d rather fly to New York and catch a Met or Yankee game than ever step foot in Marlins Park again.
The new ownership has been a DISASTER, firing one of the best broadcast teams in MLB.
We may actually see the stands completely empty at some games.
Most people who go to a Marlins game are fans of the opposing team. It’s always that way in Miami, everybody there is from somewhere else. It was like that when I lived down there.
Of course one must consider that Bird has never been healthy and neither has Stanton with the exception of last year...
And you would be wrong about how some in the office looked at it. Granted my source is not there today. From a fans point it will be nice having a current day murderers row again as long as they have the pitching to keep them close.
Right, especially when the Cubs, Mets, and Phillies are in town.
Those are usually good games, just because those fans actually make some noise and are into the game.
The Miami fans are all staring at their phones.
Yankees are coming to Marlins Park August 21 and 22.
