Fusion GPS is a CIA front group. It’s a bagman to allow the DNC to funnel money in to contract the CIA todo their dirty work; smearing people, hit jobs, the usual CIA stuff.
It might be just a bit too obvious is the DNC contracted directly with the CIA, but but a shady outfit like Fusion GPS in the middle and you create a cover to hide the fact the government and government resources are being directed by the DNC.

Absolutely we should not rely on the IG.
1. It's defenders of the DOJ who want us to trust it.
2. It's not an actual "investigation" even though that word keeps getting used, when it's actually an IG review or audit, because that's what IG's do.
3. The guy in charge is an Obama appointee.
Nope, the only thing that should be acceptable is a special counsel to investigate the corruption in the DOJ. And there's much more evidence they conspired to steal the election, than there is against Trump and the Russians, which got a special counsel.

That is more of a last and final resort, as it may kick off a civil war, possibly starting within the DoD itself first. Trump needs to make his case more to the public, first, and is making great strides in that regard lately. And having the backing of the Congress is also critical, which thankfully is finding its voice.
