Congressional Staffer in Charge of Investigating Sexual Harassment Accused of Sexual Harassment
BY: Alex Griswold Follow @HashtagGriswold December 14, 2017 5:22 pm
A staffer in charge of investigating ethics complaints against members of Congress has been accused of sexually harassing women.
Omar Ashmawy is the staff director and chief counsel of the Office of Congressional Ethics, the office that investigates allegations of misconduct in the House of Representatives, including allegations of sexual harassment like those levied against former Democratic Rep. John Conyers (Mich).
Before joining the Office of Congressional Ethics, Ashmawy also represented victims of sexual assault in his role as a member of the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps. A Washington Post profile notes that he "defended a young female soldier whose allegation that she had been gang-raped prompted the Air Force to court martial her for committing indecent acts."
But somewhat ironically, Foreign Policy reported Thursday that Ashmawy himself is now facing accusations of "verbally abusing and physically assaulting women."

Muzzie Priveledge.
I just finished reading that article, I guess it is a Requirement to be a Full Blown Scumbag to work in DC.
According to a three-page statement dated March 12, 2015, Dawn Jorgenson said she witnessed Ashmawy clearly sexually harassing the bartender throughout the course of the evening and saw his behavior spiral toward physical violence. Youll give me drinks, but you wont fuck me, Ashmawy allegedly said to the bartender, according to Dawn Jorgensons written statement.
She said she then saw Ashmawy block the bartender with his body and curse at her, and grab her by the wrists. Dawn Jorgenson said when she tried to intervene, Ashmawy turned against her. Hes holding my wrist so tightly that he falls down to the ground landing to the left of me, she wrote in her statement.
She said her husband, John Jorgenson, came over to help and pulled Ashmawy away, taking him outside.
In statements given to police, the third woman, Christina Floyd, provided a similar account. I watched each time Omar would come down and verbally sexually harass the bartender as he ordered drinks, Floyd wrote in her statement, describing an increasingly angry Ashmawy confronting the bartender.
I am a 5 foot 3 woman who never knew this man. I was very scared of him and was afraid hed come back around for weeks after, Floyd wrote of Ashmawy in her statement to police dated March 14, 2015. I have never had a man physically harm me or scare me in that matter. He was sexually harassing, abusing and I feared for my life.
According to Floyd, Ashmawy was sexually harassing and verbally abusive to the bartender. She also said Ashmawy was very intoxicated, an allegation that is backed up by the police report.
The two other women described abuse at the hands of Ashmawy that same night, providing similar details. Ashmawy did not respond to FPs follow-up email with additional questions, including if he was intoxicated that evening.
I almost forgot, If this is true and can be Proven, it is a TEXTBOOK Definition of Extortion. Threatening Criminal prosecution in a Civil matter is A Felony Everywhere.
Among other allegations, Ashmawy is accused in the lawsuit of threatening to use his position as staff director and chief counsel of the Office of Congressional Ethics to induce a criminal proceeding to be brought against Plaintiff and/or others,
Correction - Only CNN can make stuff up.
?????
He’s accused of being rude to and (one assumes) groping some women while drunk at a bar. Some other men beat him up.
I think, when the issue is sexual remarks and contact that wouldn’t generate a criminal charge, a distinction should be made between bar behavior and workplace behavior (unless one works in a bar, of course). A young woman expects to be hit on by drunks at a bar. It has even happened to me, the person with the dullest life in the history of the world (according to my teenagers).
If an annoying drunk doesn’t promptly bug off, you have your boyfriend intervene, which seems to be what happened here.
Just when you think you’ve seen it all.
Okay, that’s a pretty high level of obnoxious drunk behavior, not just garden variety.
Ipso harrassier harrassie?
Is the ethics committee made up of nothing but democrats?
A real scumbag.
So they have a Muslim in charge of investigating sexual harassment...
A bit like having foxes in charge of guarding the chicken coop.
Well hell, now he’ll have to investigate himself!
do goats count.... yea or naaaaaaeeeeeee
