House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told the House Rules Committee today that Congress has a duty to protect the DREAMers by taking action to allow them to stay in the United States.
Congress has a duty and an obligation to protect these DREAMersthe committee should take this opportunity and take the bipartisan DREAM Act a vote on the floor, Pelosi said. [ ]
Pelosi said the vast majority of Americans want the DREAMers to stay and become legal residents of the United States. By an 84 to 12 margin, Americans believe that Dreamers should be allowed to stay in America and gain legal status, including 77 percent who support a path to citizenship, 81 percent of Independents want citizenship status for Dreamers, 57 percent of RepublicansRepublicanswant citizenship for DREAMers, she said.
The three Bsbadges (law enforcement), bibles (our faith groups), and the business communityall strongly support the DREAM Act, said Pelosi.
In addition, Pelosi said not deporting the DREAMers will save America money. According to an analysis by the conservative CATO Institute, deporting DACA recipients would cost taxpayers $60 billion, said Pelosi. The Center for American Progress [said it] would cost our economy a staggering $460 billion over the next decade. CATO was addressing deportation, Center for American Progress was talking about productivity of our economy.

All Pelosi wants is more Democrat voters who don’t care about their corruption.
A family moves into your home without your permission, uses your stuff, eats your food, lounges in your living room.
Cops take the parents away, but the kids get to stay in your home, and be adopted by you after a while.
Everyone OK with that?
It never seems to embarrass leftists when they completely ignore their constitutional duties in favor of inventing new ones. So much for intellectualism.
To be a leftist means to abrogate constitutional duties, in the first place.
——Sounds like youve accepted their lies.——
Huh....no....
Though 35 years old seems a bit too old.
The point is to get these people who came here not by their own free will a path to be legal...key word not under their own
Everybody else....deport...
It’s about that simple....
Also, they have to swear allegiance to the United States and renounce all ties and rights to their home country.
And if they refuse the deal, round them up and ship them out.
BTW, your list is “racist.” And it is racist to treat these new immigrants differently than the rest.
Expect the rats to agree to some of your provisions and then a year later demand that they be removed. After all it is “unfair.”
Not trying to nitpick but how is it possible that they have never been to a place if they were born there?
I'd think we would want to keep those who are taxpayers and honorably discharged US military vets. Maybe 10 years of tax returns showing net income tax payments and/or a DD 214 should get them on the fast track for citizenship.
But I'll hazard a guess that's not the kind of new US citizen that Nancy and her party want.
“Expect the rats to agree to some of your provisions and then a year later demand that they be removed. After all it is unfair. “
You are right...first they have to get the camel’s nose under the tent . . .then they will run on this to stir up their base and declare anyone opposed as xenophobic, racist, KKK, etc. The media will love it...That is if they don’t get the judiciary to grant a stay and then declare it unconstitutional first.
What duty, and what obligation? These youngsters (many of them now adults) still have strong cultural ties with their country of origin, including but not limited to a fair degree of fluency in the mother tongue. It would be perhaps economic hardship[ at first for them to be removed back to the land of their birth, but with the insight of additional perspective built up during their years in the United States, they could then raise the consciousness of their fellow citizens (and yes, they are STILL citizens of the country of their birth), instilling in them the reasonable quest to create a country much like what they envisioned the United States should be, and furthermore, there is no chance that immigration officials would sweep in and carry out a further deportation.
Oh, and yeah, the list is also "hate speech".
Huh?
Just curious, why is this such an issue for Dems? How many 'dreamers' are there?
...I’m going be swimming upstream here, but how can you take a kid or young adult that was dragged here when they are child and deport them back to place they probably have never been to....
methinks you are not swimming upstream but drowning...did you not learn anything from the failed amnesty of 1986?
800,000 people to apply for visa in one year? hows many newlegal immigants in the usa each year? will you let them step in front of 800,000 other people patiently waiting in line some as much as 10 years? where is the justice for all not just lawbreakers?
LOL ...very true
I was referring to having been raised there as a child.
Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats want to add a million Democrat voters to the US electorate--and then untold millions more as they bring their extended families to America and get them ALL on US welfare. Once on welfare and parasitizing the American working man and woman, they will be permanent Democrat voters.
You forgot
6) cannot sponsor chain migration.
“Congress has no affirmative duty whatsoever except to uphold the immigration laws that are already on the books, or to amend or repeal them.”
Stop citing facts and making sense.
“... but how can you take a kid or young adult that was dragged here when they are child and deport them back to place they probably have never been to.”
Of course they’ve been there. If they came here as children, then they came from SOMEWHERE else, generally their home countries where they ARE citizens.
Kindly, point where I used the word amnesty?
hows many new-legal immigrants in the usa each year?
There are already here...
Is it fair to step in front of the ones who applied legally ? Nope...
Are we really going to deport 800,000 people the vast majority have been here for many years though no fault of there own who are good people except for being dragged across the border by their alien parents...
That's not reality...
Spot on. The Democrat game plan!
“Offer them a 12 month period to apply for a visa, as long as they qualify and then gave them another 12 months to apply for citizenship...”
NO to citizenship. That is awarding them the lottery when countless others have to stand in line and play by the rules. They need to return to their home countries, where they ARE citizens.
