In case you missed the Golden Globes, talk from the night is whether Oprah Winfrey will run for president in 2020.
It started off with host Seth Meyers’s joke about the White House Correspondents’ Dinner when he said Donald Trump wasn’t qualified to be president.
“Some have said that night convinced him to run. So, if that’s true, I just want to say: Oprah, you will never be president! You do not have what it takes. And Hanks! Where’s Hanks? You will never be vice president. You are too mean and unrelatable. Now we just wait and see.”
Oprah, who would receive the Cecil B. DeMille award later that night, delivered a rousing speech that led many to wonder if she really is thinking about it.
"In my career, what I've always tried my best to do, whether on television or through film, is to say something about how men and women really behave. To say how we experience shame, how we love and how we rage, how we fail, how we retreat, persevere and how we overcome. I've interviewed and portrayed people who've withstood some of the ugliest things life can throw at you, but the one quality all of them seem to share is an ability to maintain hope for a brighter morning, even during our darkest nights.
"So I want all the girls watching here, now, to know that a new day is on the horizon! And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say 'Me too' again," she said.
It didn’t take long for the 2020 buzz to build.
Oprah has given mixed signals in the past about whether she'd be open to a future in politics.
In June she told The Hollywood Reporter, “I will never run for public office. That’s a pretty definitive thing.”
But, she’s also toyed with the idea, tweeting out a New York Post column in September titled “Democrats’ best hope for 2020: Oprah,” thanking the author for the “VOTE of confidence!”
Then there was her March interview with Bloomberg TV’s David Rubenstein, in which she suggested she was more open to the idea of running since Trump’s election, although she never named him.
“That’s what I thought,” Winfrey said. “I thought, ‘Oh gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough.’ And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh.’”
Her best friend quickly shut down talk of her running after that interview, however.
Either way, it may not be an idea people give up on too soon. After all, even major media outlets aren't hiding their bias about it.
Nothing but respect for OUR future president. #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/h4hkjewu0K— NBC (@nbc) January 8, 2018
My idea of the people who sit in awe watching all these Hollywood and music endless awards shows:
Middle aged women tucked on the couch wearing an old bathrobe with curlers in her hair and eating stale popcorn or chocolate bon-bons, living vicariously through the fake people on the tube...
Indeed it was a sample of living in the old U.S.S.R.
That’s it Dems, keep nominating un-electable candidates.
Oprah/Michelle 2020
And their campaign slogan could be:
“Who would argue with Us?”
Not because she lacks ambition. Rather because the Democrat Party is full of backstabbing snakes who believe it is now “their turn” and will cut her off at the knees.
A mere millionaire black woman is not really in the same league as a billionaire white male.
She lacks gravitas.
Oprah is a billionaire and she got the Kenyanesian Usurper elected (with help from the GOP)
This will make Kamala Harris pretty dang unhappy...along with all the other rats who scrounge and claw their way in politics hoping to get to the top of the pile one day.
Possibly Trump has changed a lot of career paths...
All these celebrities fancying themselves waltzing into the White House because after all, Donald Trump was able to do it.
They will find out very quickly that running a successful presidential campaign is not as easy as Donald Trump made it out to be.
What they don't seem to understand is that Donald Trump is a worker. He's a machine. He gets maybe 4 hours of sleep a night. The weekend before the election, the man did 11 rallies across the country and uncountable radio/TV interviews. I'm just talking about the last weekend of the campaign!
All these trial balloons about celebrities becoming president. I say, let them run! It will be fun to watch.
Probably more troubling than Oprah are her followers.
Can you imagine the rules of engagement for our troops under Oprah as the CinC.
LOL!
I never watch those celebtard award shows. What did Ocra say that was so inspiring?
Anybody that wants to be president, let them give it a try! They deserve an opportunity to make their case.
Can’t wait: Doprah at the top of the ticket, and Lie-Awatha as her running mate . . . dream ticket!!!!
The Greek word for actor is hypokrites which is the origin of hypocrite. That’s because everything an actor says is a lie in that they are pretending to be something they are not. This is why the Democrats are so comfortable around them.
The RATS can’t see beyond their own biases, and will surely nominate some black, female LOSER as a candidate. If they can find a black, female, lesbian loser, they’ll be even happier. When said black, female, lesbian loser... well, loses, that’ll be proof, to their teeny little brains, that anyone who didn’t vote for their side is a racist, sexist, homophobe - and since we all know that racist, sexist homophobes cannot be tolerated, that’ll give them an excuse to wage war on the sane part of America (you know, kind of what they’re doing now).
The name of her production company actually IS Harpo Productions.
A catchier slogan would be, ‘OFF with their heads!’
So, yeah:
RUN, OPRAH, RUN!!
