All Four NFL Playoff Games See Double-Digit Ratings Decrease
Sports Illustrated ^ | January 8, 2018 | Jimmy Traina

The NFL had a disastrous weekend when it came to ratings. Numbers have been down all season and it was more of the same for the wild-card games. The biggest surprise was that the best game (Panthers-Falcons) had the biggest decrease year over year. Yes, markets were a big factor, but that was a competitive and entertaining game. Here's the breakdown:

Titans-Chiefs (14.7) was down 11 percent versus last year's Raiders-Texans game.

Falcons-Rams (14.9) was down 10 percent versus last year's Lions-Seahawks game.

Bills-Jaguars (17.2) was down 10 percent versus last year's Dolphins-Steelers game.

Panthers-Saints (20.4) was down 21 percent versus last year's Giants-Packers game.

Maybe football players are dumb as a box of rocks. Why else would the players who know better than to disrespect the flag and their American fans stand for their teammates’ “right” to anger those fans?
The teams ought to cut the paychecks of the kneelers at least 20% for the unnecessary grief they have cost their sport.

New normal. NFL doesn’t care it’s taken over by liberals. They are happy to do 20% less and oppose Trump.

The media is now admitting that people are deliberately turning off the NFL.

The new BS spin is that the boycotters are evenly split, pro-and-anti Kaepernick.

Yes watching Jacksonville is painful. They have a great D but when your QB runs for more yards than he throws for.... and I expect Tennessee to be absolutely throttled by the Patriots. I mean, who knows, but that’s the way I’m betting.

millions no longer pay for cable known as cord cutters

That's the future. Replacement for aging views will be lower as young people show less interest in professional sports.

I can use big text too! LOSER!!!!!!!!!!

2017 cord cutter estimates

cord cutting accelerating faster

cord cutting increasing at rapid rate

56 million cut cord this year

ad spending down as cord cutting accelerates

fall ad spending down as cord cutting accelerates

cord cutting statistics show trouble for pay tv

one in five house cut cable

I'm quite well informed but please tell if 20% of people stopped buying cable do you think that 20% of people stopped watching TV no they just watch it online. same with the NFL you sad little temper tantrum isn't going to do anything plus its about as ridiculous as a pink pussy hat, actually maybe that would make your dumb protest more effective go stand in front of the stadium with a pink football on your head.

>>Additionally a slight decline in NFL TV ratings has less to do with your silly counter protest but more to do with the fact that millions no longer pay for cable known as cord cutters.<<

Many cord cutters cut the cords because of the NFL players who take a knee, ask Direct TV. And who is sillier, one who stops watching people who spit upon his beliefs and things he holds dear or one who continues to watch those who despise him?

It’s true that cord cutting pushes down NFL ratings, but it’s also true that a reduction in sports viewership pushes up cord cutting.
The cable industry has used inertia and the relative difficulty of watching sports without cable TV as a deterrent to cable cutting.
I imagine the board rooms of the major media companies care very much if a segment of the population changes from sports fans to NFL enemies.
