Norway’s PM makes business case of ‘green economy’ to Trump
Washington Post ^ | Jan 10, 2018 | Ken Thomas

Norway’s prime minister told President Donald Trump on Wednesday that her country remains committed to the Paris climate agreement, making the business case of the “green economy” to the real estate developer-turned president.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg noted that many Norwegians drive U.S.-made Tesla electric cars and said her country saw “tremendous economic and business opportunities” as nations around the world fight climate change.

“Norway is combatting climate change — it’s an important issue for us and we are committed to the Paris agreement,” Solberg said during a joint news conference with Trump.

“We could conceivably go back in,” Trump reiterated. But he added, “The Paris accord really would have taken away our competitive edge and we’re not going to let that happen — I’m not going to let that happen.”

Solberg, by contrast, cited her support of the agreement, which she said would help American businesses.

Encouraged by generous government tax credits, about one-third of Norwegians drive zero-emission electric cars — many of them American-made Teslas.

Trump’s meeting with Solberg was the first foreign leader visit with the president in 2018.

Norway has sought to be an international leader in efforts to reduce planet-warming carbon emissions. While the Scandinavian country remains a major exporter of oil and gas, the Norwegian government was among the first to sign on to the landmark Paris climate deal, pledging to meet a 40 percent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.

“Encouraged by generous government tax credits, about one-third of Norwegians drive zero-emission electric cars — many of them American-made Teslas.”

But of course. To a socialist the only solution involves other peoples money.

Obviously these Norwegians would not drive these cars if they were not being paid to do so. That’s nothing to be proud of. Just government intervention

Probably the wrong person to be pitching it to.

I hope we don’t go back in.

Trump, being a rational, normal, astute, shrewd businessman told her to shove global warming up her Norwegian arse.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these people, referring to countries mentioned by the lawmakers.

Trump then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries such as Norway, whose prime minister he met with Wednesday.”

Not sure what exactly went down in the meeting but although immigrants from places like Norway and Sweden have contributed much to America:

Modern Scandinavian societies, in their advocacy for atheism, socialism, euthanasia, and abortion of babies with Down Syndrome are just as responsible for Western cultural rot as is unmitigated immigration.

Norway redistributes wealth from low income to high income people to grow their EV market. It is the ultimate unfairness.

Norway is planning to pull the plug on its wildly successful electric-car incentives

By Eshe Nelson
October 13, 2017

...Over the years, Norway has offered enticing subsides and other perks to encourage people to buy electric cars, such as no city tolls, free parking, free charging, and permission to drive in bus lanes. In February, the number of electric cars in Norway surpassed 100,000.

The Norwegian government has been considering ways to curb the incentives for a while, amid criticisms that the perks allow rich households to buy pricey Teslas cheaply and significantly increase congestion in the capital, Oslo.

A proposal, presented as part of next year’s budget, has been put forward to remove a tax exemption on electric vehicles that weigh more than two metric tons.

The move has been dubbed the “Tesla tax,” as it’s most likely to effect the American company’s models, particularly the Tesla Model X, an SUV. There are more than 13,000 registered Teslas in Norway, according to data from the national statistics office. The tax would increase the cost of buying a new Tesla X by about 70,000 kroner ($8,850), local media said (link in Norwegian).

Here is the result of giving away money and generous perks to the rich:

What a LIE that Norwegians are "saving the planet." If they really wanted to do that, they wouldn't live in a frozen wasteland that requires building heating ten months of the year.

I love how they term Norways chief export 55% of their GDP as Organic Chemicals and Mineral fuels... In other words OIL. The primary culprit in their imaginary global warming scare mongering.

Maybe he told her “Your sh*thole country can stay in the Paris Accords if it wants to.”

Sure, pitch the “green economy” while almost all of your foreign exchange comes from the sale of North Sea oil and gas. I notice the Norwegians are leaving it in the ground, but are making money off it so they can buy those electric cars.

The hypocrisy of the left is staggering.

Neither do I.

Norway is a nation of smug climate hypocrites. Without North Sea oil and gas, which it happily exports at huge profits, its socialist government would collapse. Meanwhile it has tremendous resources for hydroelectric power generation and it limits immigration. With its small population and "clean" power resources it will be easy for it to meet the Paris limits while still enjoying a high standard of living and enjoying a sense of moral superiority over the rest of us.

I'd be dishonest not to mention I'm convinced CO2 has little or no effect on atmospheric warming. It's all a big propaganda campaign as most here know, designed to destroy capitalism and redistribute resources under a UN world government run by unelected tyrannical bureaucrats.

Except that after Trump allegedly made sh*thole comment, he added that immigrants from Norway and Asia were more acceptable.

There’s your so-called “Green Economy” in a nutshell.

“Norway is combatting climate change”

Brought about by the feel-good immigration of thousands of muslim animals who changed the climate of the country for everyday Norwegians in drastic ways.

No one is stopping anyone from p*ssing their cash away on a green business.

It just isn’t going to mandated into law to force everyone to be stupid.

making the business case of the “green economy” to the real estate developer-turned president

An interesting turn of phrase by Ken Thomas who is known to have had his stinky diapers changed by a woman before becoming an AP political 'reporter'.

I remember all of the times when the AP's crack 'reporter' Ken Thomas wrote during the failed Obama administration with wording similar to 'the community-agitator-without-a-legitimate-birth-certificate-turned-president'.

Well, actually I don't...

The AP is a bad joke, and Ken Thomas is vying for the title of AP's clown-in-chief (but he has stiff competition for that dubious honor)...

The only reason Norway has any extractable petroleum at all is because the climate was warmer in the past allowing for prolific algae growth.
