I think Durbin is at a loss to remember anything from these meetings he attends, and just makes up stuff later. Eventually, folks will record the meetings and when Durbin does his little ‘trick’...they will play the recording and dump Durbin by the side of the road. At that point, everyone will realize he’s a nutcase.

Harry reid did this to romney during his presidential campaign.

Reid said he doubted that romney paid income taxes while speaking to an empty chamber late night on the senate floor. Then during the campaign reid said:"Word is out that romney didn't pay income taxes".

Of course, reid is the only one who "put the word out".
