It is not correct to ask "Who is Laz?", for Laz is more than a man. Laz is an idea. Laz is an ideal. Laz is what mankind aspires to, in the deepest and coldest nights. Laz is what makes humanity sing; what drives our achievements; what creates for us the drive to build and learn and become.
If there is an artist, in front of a canvas, seeking the muse -- that is Laz. If there is a soldier, struggling under fire, to save his platoon -- that is Laz. If there is a doctor who is valiantly applying all his skill to save his treasured patient -- that is Laz.
Laz exists in the soft wind that caresses the grain on a farmer's field. Laz is the dew, gently trembling on the leaf, as the butterfly quenches its thirst. Laz is the sun, pouring down on the beach and gently warming the lapping waves.
When you see an astronaut, proudly planting the flag on the moon, you see Laz. When you see a construction worker, soiled and greasy, on a tall skyscraper, risking life and limb to bring you a beautiful building, you see Laz. When a software developer gives his creative soul to a product that revolutionizes an entire industry, you see Laz. You see Laz in the strivings of Olympic athletes. You see Laz in the efforts of the policeman to save the lives of people trapped in fire. You see Laz in all noble endeavors. Laz is what ennobles us, Laz is that which embiggens us. Laz is a quality of good and grace and wonder and awe.
You cannot ask, "Who is Laz?"
You must, instead, ask, what would mankind be WITHOUT Laz?
