President Donald Trump is blaming Russia for failing to ratchet up economic pressure on North Korea.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate: Why should the USA expect Russia to help with anything regarding North Korea?

Sounds like a really great reason to deregulate fracking even more.

I’ll bet Russia would just jump for joy over that, huh.

it’s a two-fer, a slam dunk.

I’m going to ask the question..... What can Russia do that is actually effective?

I would guess Russia does not have the economic nor political influence on North Korea to make any real change in the NORK government.

Yes, great, but that policy would be even more effective if implemented across all US energy production.

Russia would be even more interested in making a deal acceptable to President Trump and beneficial to the US.

You're not the Devil's advocate.

Russia should use the International Foreign Relations Standard of Sovereign Nations, Putin should act in the best interests of Russia and Russians, and if he can make a deal, then do so.

If Trump could sit down with Putin rather than being hogtied by the dems with this Russian collusion garbage I am sure Trump can convince Putin it would be more beneficial to Russia if they did not have the US and its new President as an enemy than have deadender North Korea as a friend.

I think Russia, China and Iran would love to see N. Korea hit us with an EMP and will not reign in them hoping that will happen.

Your advocacy cuts directly to the point.

We want NK to stop troubling us and our regional allies.
China and Russia benefit by having NK create trouble for us and our allies.

The only possible leverage to motivate Russia to “help” must come from horse-trading beyond the Korean issue. Barring that, it appears Trump is left to exhort Russia to help so that they aren’t embarrassed by his complaints that they aren’t helping. If their help is desirable, possible, and worth the cost, I wish him good luck with that.
