You are completely incorrect....if they give it to him he can sidestep everything and declassified it. He is the ultimate classification authority. Period.

Actually, it is you who are incorrect. You are overlooking the part of your own statement that I put in bold above -- if they gave it to him.

We have three separate branches of the federal government: Legislative, Executive and Judicial. We have the doctrine of separation of powers. The Executive does not have plenary authority over the entire government, only of the third headed by the president.

The House of Representatives owns the document. It is their work product, written by a House committee chairman. So if the committee and/or full House votes to release the document, it can be released. Although there is some debate as to whether or not the document would then need to go to the White House for review, the President apparently has already said he would release it.

You may be "painting with too broad a brush" by damning the NSA. Do you actually understand the role the NSA plays in our relationship to the world?

Gathering up every single communication on the planet; that much surveillance power provides too great a temptation for misuse. It has been misused within the NSA and without by the Obama Administration, and likely others. Conversely, in spite of siphoning up every form of communication, the NSA is ineffective in stopping actual terrorist events such as San Bernardino or the Los Vegas mass shooting.

Robert Philip Hansen is a former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who spied for Soviet and Russian intelligence services against the United States for 22 years from 1979 to 2001. Wikipedia

FBI not NSA!

FBI not NSA

And you think the NSA is not susceptible to the same short comings. I think they are much more susceptible to corruption because they deal so intimately with it and at the highest levels. I know who Hanson was, I merely used him as an example of how easy it is to hide within.

You have insulted every ASA vet, Navy Security Group Vet and Air Force security vet with your bs statement. Those were/are the military’s branches of the NSA.

I was in Navy Security Group. After, I was vetted for my Top Secret in the 1960’s. My parents had to be American Citizens. They and my siblings were vetted as well I was before my clearance came through. The same vetting applied to my wife and her parents and siblings. None of us has ever had any criminal history.

That vetting continued even after I was honorably discharged for a few years.

Admiral Mike Rogers, the current NSA director risked his career and maybe his life by coming forward and exposing the smug thugs in the FBI/DOJ.

When Admiral Rogers came to Trump Tower after the November 2016 election and warned President Elect Trump about the illegal surveillance of candidate Trump, his people and by the DOJ/FBI thugs, who are being outed everyday.

Thanks to Admiral Rogers, their attempted coup did not work.

People simply do not know what the NSA does, which is far more than spying. They also confuse the NSA with the NRO. That’s understandable.

You are correct there are no democrat insiders in that group. They are all patriotic conservatives.

If you think traitors do not exist in those groups you are insulting every thinking human.

I have watched these politicians who have to be protected by all those loyal Americans you are referring to, for 60 years. They escape justice because they control the Justice and you are naive to think they don't.

Were you one of those people telling us if Comey didn't bring charges all the loyal FBI agents would resign in protest? Not one did as far as I know, just like all those Hollywoodites that would leave the US if Gw, Trump was elected. The fact that the attempted coup has not worked yet, doesn't mean it won't.

If you never ran across any of those traitors in your service maybe you just weren't skilled enough, because they are there as sure as the sun will come up in the morning.

Why do we protect the Poppy fields?
