WHY IS THIS INFORMATION CLASSIFIED TO BEGIN WITH?

It can only be to protect the guilty.

Today we learned that despite sobbing and hand wringing from the FBI, DOJ and other democrats about threats to national security there was nothing in the House memo that endangered national security.

Yes, this top-secret and classified stuff is way out of hand. The memo that came out today was at first “Classified.” And we had to wait for over two weeks to jump through all the hoops to unclassify it. And, yet, there is not ONE SINGLE THING in that memo that pertains to national security and that the citizenry should not have know from day one!

They are using classification to break the law and then to hide the evidence of their wrongdoing. Nothing more.

The info is classified becuase the FBI, DOJ and FISA Courts cover each other's backs. There is ZERO risk of civil or criminal liability.

U.S. Code > Title 50 (WAR AND NATIONAL DEFENSE)
CHAPTER 36 - FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE SURVEILLANCE (S:S: 1801 to 1885c)
1809 - Criminal sanctions

(b) Defense
It is a defense to a prosecution under subsection (a) that the defendant was a law enforcement or investigative officer engaged in the course of his official duties and the electronic surveillance was authorized by and conducted pursuant to a search warrant or court order of a court of competent jurisdiction.

It is literally impossible for the wrongdoing described in this memo to be a crime. The FBI can lie to the court with impunity, and the court can knowingly accept lies with impunity. The statute is toothless.

“there was nothing in the House memo that endangered national security”

Reconsider.

To denizens of the swamp, McCain included, the loss of institutional confidence in the FBI and DOJ that these memos will and are causing, is an existential threat to the US Government.

This is the stuff of insurrection and revolution. And the impact should not be underestimated.

I’m convinced 90% of classification is to cover up government screw-ups and abuses.

No, it only threatened job security, in the "deep state".

How about endangering the individual rights of every American citizen with respect to the 4th Amendment? Is that considered “National Security”? I’d feel a whole lot more secure knowing our laws mean something.
