Jim Carrey is quitting Facebook and dumping his stock — and is urging everyone else to do so as well.
"We must encourage more oversight by the owners of these social media platforms," Jim Carrey said in a statement to CNBC. "This easy access has to be more responsibly handled. What we need now are activist investors to send a message that responsible oversight is needed. What the world needs now is capitalism with a conscience."
The comedian tweeted on Tuesday he was selling his Facebook shares and deleting his page because the company profited from Russian interference during the 2016 U.S. election. He asked all "other investors who care about our future to do the same."

Truly, I think Carey has been “turned”, and is an agent for the left, much like Hanks and Streep, and many in the music industry.
He was on Seinfield’s “Comedians Getting Coffee” or something like that, and he was absolutely out of his mind, and not in a nice or funny way. He’s weird.

I abandoned Facebook 3 years ago, but not for Carrey’s reasons. It’s simply a massive waste of time. If I have something I really want to share with my close family members and friends, I just have a group email list for that purpose. I’m much more selective in what I distribute and I don’t have to spend an hour every day looking at inane postings by 500 different people who are fall into the acquaintance rather than actual friend category.
Nobody had to turn him, he’s always been this way. He’s Canadian.
I have a Facebook account with no photos, no personal info and three “friends” all of whom are page administrators or whatever they call them. I actually hate Facebook but those three pages contain a lot of good info and owner back and forth conversation regarding a a vehicle that I own, that I won’t find elsewhere. I got tired of the blankout thing popping up telling me to sign in while trying to read the content.
Why is this Canadian interfering in U.S politics ... like Duh. There is no law saying agents of a foreign government cannot express opinions about the U.S. I think it’s just solicited contributions in money or in kind, or unsolicited contributions in money only that the law looks at. Unsolicited contributions in kind would be dumb. Every politician would be set up for jail if it were otherwise.
