Artificial intelligence could be "billions of times smarter" than humans and people may need to merge with computers to survive, a futurist told CNBC on Tuesday.

Speaking on a panel hosted by CNBC at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Futurizon's Ian Pearson's comments mirrored ideas put forward by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Hmmm..... now that’s an interesting thought

The play introduced the word robot, which displaced older words such as "automaton" or "android" in languages around the world. In an article in Lidové noviny Karel Čapek named his brother Josef as the true inventor of the word.[14][15] In Czech, robota means forced labour of the kind that serfs had to perform on their masters' lands and is derived from rab, meaning "slave".[16]

I do not see any surprise here, as the current AI devices are already smarter than the smartest democrat/leftist.

AI could already be here in the form of the internet. How many of us have our lives guided somewhat by what we learn from it. How much time do we spend looking at the pictures and reading the words and sometimes conversing like I’m doing now.

The internet is a huge pile of distributed artificial intelligence. It communicates, stores, and performs logical operations.

Also, smart AI can act friendly and cute at first to amuse, disarm and deceive. Check out Cozmo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkkpuwl741g

Counter AI for defense is needed!

As the great Will Rodgers said: “If Stupidity got us into this mess, then why can’t it get us out?”

We have been merging with machines for quite some time. This merger will only accelerate. Most people just don't notice, or pretend not to notice.

Smart phone use

Heads up display in a car

Chip implants for any number of things

My grandmother was born in the 19th century. As a child, her house had no running water. When she died at 105 she was a cyborg. She had a pace maker.

THIS is the problem for the left.
They covet the idle and those dependent on government. The left's existence is dependent on growing the number of government dependents. AI might rightly assess the dependent class as a drain on the good of the majority. An unemotional AI would likely minimize care of those who simply exist to vote democrat.

Close friend of mine actually works with an organization that is trying to develop moral decision making methodologies for AI applications.

He doesn’t necessarily think that it’s the greatest idea in the world but has resigned himself to the fact it’s likely investigate and wants to try to influence it in a positive way.

That’s what I have read and been told by colleagues and friends involved with AI and machine learning...that basically you’ll wake up one morning and it will be a completely different world -—unimaginably different—than the one that existed when you went to bed the night before.

No big lead ups or announcements-—it will just happen.

These idiots obviously don’t know what “smart” means, and are basing their wild claims on a definition of the word that doesn’t correspond with reality.

Their systems will have access to huge storehouses of data, and will use rapid computers. But they will not be intelligent. They are manipulating symbols, but have no understanding of any of the words.

Human intelligence is vastly superior, because it is able to correlate one concept with an unlimited number of other concepts. Plus it is able to apply the standard of reasonableness to its thoughts. Plus, humans have emotions, which act as a brake on intelligence.

Humans have intelligence and emotions. Machines have neither, but can simulate both well enough to fool millions of people.

This is what I’d like to believe. Although the preponderance of atheist “futurists” out there today seem convinced that AI will make humanity unrecognizable and ultimately create some sort of religion based on a “collective consciousness” of some sort and superintelligence.

Thats why the first humans to be merged with AI will be lawyers.

ROSS is IBM’s first commercially available AI product.

Your statement seems farfetched. Yet I believe it. I am extremely resistant to this future, but see little chance it won’t happen .
