I appreciate Hector Posset, the ambassador of the Republic of Benin. It's nice hearing honesty on something that has become such a big political issue.

I don't believe Africans should be blamed for all the committed by their forefathers. Neither should Americans be blamed for all the wrongs committed by their forefathers.

I wonder if he thinks reruns of The Dukes of Hazzard be banned or Confederate statues taken down?

Black men put other black men into chains and sold them.

White men fought and died to free them.

There is no need to apologize for things you didn't do or don't even approve of.

Slavery is the oldest institution on this earth.

What's done is done, focus on making the future better, not assigning blame of something who's perpetrators are all dead and buried.

No mater where you came from, if you go back in time, there will be someone related to you who was a slave. We still had it in the 50’s and it may still persist today in the form of labor camps if not down right auctions in Libya and ISIS occupied areas. Those are the known ones, I am sure there are many other examples.

Kinda foolish that, again, all animosity is directed at America while burying the Arab then 1400 years of Islamic participation. More people need to be aware of the trans Sahara slave trade, years of operation, intent, uses and it’s losses

...and that slavery is still openly practiced in over 12 nations in Africa today.
Let alone that Islam uses a word which is for dual use slave and black.

The greatest raider of resources inclusive of Human Resources from Africa always has been Islam, and no one wants to give them credit for being number 1.

Yep, the reason America was so successful was due to the slaves.

If success was based on slavery, Islam would tower over the rest of the world.
Guess what? Didn’t happen.

Blacks are and always have been a primary actor in world slavery.

Blacks blame whites, but blacks are far more guilty even to this day.

Seems to me this is still ongoing by members of the Congressional Black Caucus as the neighborhoods and areas they represent are the most degrading and “enslaving” ones in the country

None of us can change what has happened. Better to concentrate on things that can change and better what is going on today.

I too am glad for this response. Slavery was an abomination. And we need to stop playing the blame game. There were good and bad people on both sides of the Atlantic and of both races. May G— forgive those who were practitioners or accomplices to this atrocity.

Does that include DACA kids?

They want to keep ghetto blacks right where they are. The ghetto blacks, if kept where and as they are, form as near a perfect guaranteed voting bloc for these race and poverty pimps as you’ll find anywhere. IMHO.

“Damned cotton...”

The greatest importation of African slaves to the New World was for labor in the sugar plantations in the Caribbean. The first slaves (and indentured servants) brought to the British colonies which became the US was for labor in the tobacco fields.

OTOH, transporting the slave to America ended up preserving their progeny. Such a thing does’t justify slavery, but slavery can be the imputis for preservation of lives over the long haul.

How many of these people cane to know the one true God as a result of their displacement? Long term blessings are frequently brought forth as a result of short term tragedy.
What the evil one does to harm, God uses to bless. In other words, God takes tragedy’s and turns them around.

This is shown in the movie “Roots”.
Africans were sold into slavery by other Africans and brought to America.
