Future of the Alamo front and center in Land Commissioner race

Texans go to the polls for primary elections on March 6, the same date is also the 182nd anniversary of the fall of the Alamo. Normally, they would not be connected but this year they are in one of the hottest primary races in Texas. Incumbent Land Commissioner George P. Bush is fighting off a blast from the past. His predecessor, Jerry Patterson, wants his job back in part because of a needed but controversial revamp of the historical site. Specifically, whether to move the cenotaph – the gravestone of the Alamo defenders...Bush and his campaign team didn’t grant us an interview on this story. However, late last year he had to defend his idea to skeptical state senators who approved $75 million state tax dollars for the plan...But one aspect of the master plan caught some people off guard. The re-imagined site would include more exhibits on indigenous people and life before the famous battle. Senators wanted a commitment, that changes would not shift the focus away from the battle itself.

HELL no. Patterson wrote in Evan McMullin! He refused to run in 2016 because he didn’t want to appear on a ballot with Donald Trump! Now, the punk says, “My bad! Trump’s okay, so you can vote for me now!” In a pig’s eye!

So lemme get this straight: George P. Bush supports President Trump and the Trump agenda—against the wishes of his own father—and Patterson is a #NeverTrumper; and Texans are supposed to oppose George P. Bush because of some quibble over the Alamo monument?

OK. Got it...

Absolutely!

I think I am more angry at myself for being so taken in by the Bush Family and supported them all. Oh, and no more Romneys.

I didn’t vote for George P. last time, but he touts his support of Donald Trump in flyers I’ve gotten in the mail. It’s tough to vote for a Bush, but Evan McMullin is an absolute cancer and someone who would write him in knowing full well that success would result not in a McMullin presidency but a Clinton one will never get my vote! Stay out da Pattersons!

Agreed.

I've even seen calls by former supporters of G.W. Bush to charge him as a war criminal.

I look at it this way, W was just one of many who benefitted from sending our young men and women to war over the years.

The military spends a lot of money going to war and a lot of big donors who supply the military get a big pay out from their “investments” (aka “donations” to crooked politicians). Yes I am that cynical, charge them all with war crimes.

There's something really really wrong with the Bush family.

“The re-imagined site would include more exhibits on indigenous people “

It’s actually much worse. They wan to turn the Alamo into a monument to “Native Americans”. Any reference to the men who fought and died there will be almost completely erased.

Will vote for Patterson. A low level politician from North East Texas. He held the job before and did not screw it up. Land Commissioner in Texas is just a job to get your name on major ballots. Bush will not get my vote because he is a Bush I don’t hate the family but getting a job on name only is bad. Don’t need someone screwing with the Alamo.
Before the Riverwalk in San Antonio got so expensive I could go to training and conventions there stay at a cheap motel by IH 35 and walk with a hot cup of coffee going through alleys and parking lots to Alamo Plaza sit on a bench drink coffee and imagine/think about the battle.

The Texas Land Commissioner has nothing to do with national issues. He has huge influence over what happens to the Alamo.

Pee Bush wants to desecrate the Alamo with an exhibit center that would feature exhibits showing the Mexican perspective of the battle to ”promote inclusion and unity.” He refuses to give specifics on his plan and since he has run into resistance on the subject he has stopped talking about the Mexican perspective and will only say he is waiting for a design firm to come up with details in summer or fall.

Patterson isn’t an ideal politician, but P is snake. He publicly sides with President Trump but receives huge backing from his father, and the rest of the evil clan and their globalist supporters. He came to Texas instead of running in his home state of Florida hoping to escape the taint of his father. Eventually he will show himself as no different from the rest of the clan. Better to stop him now.

Patterson will never advance to any office other than Land Commissioner, and he will save the Alamo from desecration. Patterson is the better choice. He isn’t ideal. He is better than any Bush and poses no danger of inflicting damage by attaining higher office.

Patterson has the backing of Collin County Conservative Republicans, Grassroots McKinney,Texas Home School Coalition, and Coalition to Preserve the Alamo. I know of no conservative group backing Bush. There may be one, but I haven’t seen one.
