Chevy Chase was living out a scenario right out of a National Lampoon flick.
The actor claims he was attacked in a road rage incident while traveling over the Tappan Zee Bridge in New York earlier this month when a passenger kicked him so hard he fell to the ground, TMZ reported.
Chase, 74, told police that a black pick-up truck cut him off on Feb. 9 and he thought the truck might have hit his car, so he flashed his lights until the driver pulled over.
He realized there was no damage, but still went up to the driver to speak to him about his reckless driving, according to the gossip site and thats when trouble started.
One of the passengers flipped off the actor and he fired back, reportedly saying, If I were a lot younger I'd bust your nose.
His threat led one of the passengers to get out of the car and kick him in the shoulder, causing him to hit the ground, according to police docs.
The driver claimed Chase threw a punch first and that the kicker was trying to block his fist with a foot, TMZ reports.
The person who kicked the actor was cited with second degree harassment, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
A witness also was involved in the report, noting he pulled over because he didnt want to witness the older man, Chase, get his a-- stomped.
Chase was a key cast member in the first reason of Saturday Night Live and went on to star in films like the National Lampoon franchise, Caddyshack, Fletch and countless others.

They probably thought he wasn’t funny.
I guess 60 is too big of a number for this guy.
If youre 74 years old, you dont want to be doing this stuff
“I’m Chevy Chase and you’re not.” Thank God.
If I remember the story correctly Doug Kenney a comedy writer and one of the founders of National Lampoon died when he fell off a cliff in Kauai. Doug as opposed to Chevy was well liked in those SNL and Lampoon circles. The comment one of those guys made at the time was too bad he wasn’t shaking hands with Chevy Chase when he fell.
“Now Virgil, don’t don’t anything rash, just stay in the truck.”
“Look, Maude, it’s Chevy Chase.”
“Kick his ass, Virgil!”
Well said!
Unfortunately I am too old to fight and f*ck, let alone drive safely. Due to age, I am now more of an observer rather than a participant in a$$ whooping contests, especially mine.
But I can still recall a few nasty words and how to salute when the circumstances call for it. I used to run like the wind but now the wind has changed direction.
Chevy needs to take note.

He just had to tell him how important he was and that he expected a groveling apology from the lesser being immediately ... surprised he didn’t get his face kicked in.
You’re right.

Is that a Bob Grant-ism?
Doing research for “National Lampoon’s NY Vacation”?

Liberal prick, had it coming. Never liked the arrogant bastard.
I had a woman friend who sadly passed away a few years ago. When she was in college she went out with him a few times. She said he was “a great kisser.”
So glad that Tim Mathewson instead of him got the part in “Animal House.”
Matheson
So the busted-ass old Chevy Chase got his ass busted Chasing a Chevy.
Neat.
