Full Title: Google Appears to Remove All Shopping Search Results for Guns Even Water Guns, Guns and Roses, Burgundy
Google has removed search results for any product that contains the word gun in it, including water guns, toy guns, the band Guns and Roses, and even burgundy from its shopping section. Google has removed results in its shopping tool for a wide range of terms related to firearms, unwittingly censoring completely unrelated items such as music groups and movies whose titles matched filtered terms.
Google Shopping allows users to search for products from a wide range of online shopping sites to compare prices and offerings. The Internet giant has removed search results for a wide variety of terms, which was discovered by social media users this week.
Searches for gun, guns, pistol, pistols, AR-15, rifle, and revolver, in the shopping section of Googles search engine will now fail to return any results, while other searches which have nothing to do with firearms but include the keywords similarly provide no results, including toy guns, water guns, glue gun, Guns and Roses, Gundam, Top Gun, Naked Gun, the Man With the Golden Gun, Shogun, Sex Pistols, and even burgundy.
The fact that words including gun as part of the title have led many to suspect Google is running a filter specifically to remove any search result including those letters, as opposed to filtering by product category or vendor.

This is crazy. I just cut and pasted yours in shopping and got "Your search - AR15 stripped upper - did not match any shopping results. "
Not doubting you, but I have no idea how this happens.
ALL. Stop using Google!
Searches for specific handguns seem to work just fine, including places to buy...
Ixquick uses google
It actually predicts “for sale” after I input AR15, but the result is “Your search - AR15 for sale - did not match any shopping results.”
Pathetic. There are so many other search engines out there. People have more than enough reasons to stop using theirs.
Great pic. :-)
.
LOL. My Guns and Roses search yielded no search results. I’m not sure whether that’s because they are banning guns or if GNR has become that much of a second rate act.
Which is why I NEVER use the “G” word search engine anymore.
It came up immediately on Duck-Duck-Go.
They still have “Gunnery Sergeant” results.
.
Normal results here.
Don’t see any restriction on Google search regarding guns or any related terms.
As a reality check, did anyone even use Google Shopping for anything? I never have. And if I am looking for guns, I look at armslist.com, gunbroker.com, etc. Ammo? Same and also ammoseek.com.
Despite that I do not use Google Shopping, it is very troubling that they are doing this. While they are a private company, I do think that they are big enough to warrant review as a public utility or other manner to ensure neutrality.
And the carrot & stick for this? Tax revenue. Time they pay up.
I clicked ALL’ so everything came up. Maybe Google saw that i wasn’t a rightwinger in my searches..
I stopped using google years ago. DuckDuckGo is the way to go.
Well, the AK47 is the preferred weapon of our enemies.
Startpage uses the Google engine. Your search is through Startpage so is totally anonymous but you still get the Google filtering.
I was trying to search for a report by two Harvard English professors who broke down the Second Amendment using the meaning and punctuation used at the time of its writing. The only things that came up using Startpage were all anti-gun and Second Amendment screeds because Google has eliminated and pro gun information.
